Bio Anabolics makes a really good drink, Bio Cycle. Its very similar to Isodrive, but since you can hardly get that any more... And it got a team of 4 guys through Trans Baviaans...

Also on the note of isotonic/hypotonic, surely if you just mix the drink with less powder then it becomes hypotonic. Physiology would tell you that.

Beer normally gives me energy! Don't often use it on the MTB though, flat beer tastes almost as k*k as Black Label! LOL

 

Seriously though - Powerade in the bottle, water in the backpack for long rides and races. I'm normally half dead during races though.

Short rides: water only.

Beer is a recovery drink or for pre race carbo loading. ;)

So I should drink more beer then? Maybe more variety? Erdinger before the race, Windhoek during, and Guinness after? LOL
