Why tubeless??????

What do you score by going tubeless??? I know that snakebites are minimised. Is it lighter? The BMS tube scenario will not be much lighter. We do not ride offroad...... LANDMINES!!!!!! ..... and endless sand roads.

Will there be benefits for us going tubeless on the Continental 26x1.3 slicks on the tandem? What would the benefits be?

For road I don't think any benefit. They' date=' not me, do it so that they, again not me, can run much lower pressure and have better grip.

Weirdos... I run 4bar and have more than enough grip... admittedly not on reality...

Mamapara you have not paid attention now have you ? I do it because I don't get punctures anymore . I can go through a thorn bush and not worry about holes in my tube . But I don't know about doing it on a 1.3 slick tyre .

By definition' date=' its impossible to get snakebites with tubeless.

I've seen a sliced tyre and damaged rim though. The guy did take a big hit on the back wheel though, so I'm not sure the tube would have helped.

H - I run tubes on my MTB wheels with the slicks and find I have no real issues.  Have slime in the tubes and that seems enough to stave off punctures.  Only had one in 2 years but it was pretty messy.

Off-road had endless problems with tubes.  Not really sure why, just had many punctures and slow punctures.  Tubeless removes that problem.  Only had one issue with the rim tape (Joe's) which split after about 2 years of use.  The problem didn't manifest while I was riding, but after a few rides where I would ride fine one day and then come to put on my knobblies only to find the tyre was flat.  A quick pump would solve the problem, but when I checked I found the rim tape split from one rim wall to the other.  When I get around to it I will replace with tubeless again.

OK it seems that my slicks will work tubeless...... thanx for the info, I just do not see any benefit. We currently run tubes with slicks. Angolans throw beer bottles out of windows with no guilt feelings at all. Early morning you cannot see the shards on the black/grey tar road. We have been through countless glass shards the past few weeks and no punctures. It seems that tubeless will not give me any added benefit??????
