Sabie X pre-ride

Saw Pedal_Menace and T-Man (MTBbaaithing) only .... Any other hubbers there? I was clearly marked (tattooed and hub band).

Had a blast but man those hills don't get any easier. Amazing though that a few of the front guys had a very close encounter with a leopard up on Hertebeesvlakte on Saturday. Byron was one of those and said it was awesome!

Weather worked out OK, hot Friday but rained most of the night, Saturday was cool and overcast but luckily the mud was not bad, yesterday was another scorcher. 7hrs Fri, 8:17 Sat and 6:40 Sunday, pretty much wrecked today (gonna be a long day in the office!).

The riding was ridiculous. So much of uphills right...Thumbs%20Down The single track n downhills made all the climbing worth it in the end though.Thumbs%20Up

Any1 doing the race for the 1st time (without having dun the pre-ride) and aren't used to that much ascending are in for the shock of their lives...

Aah yes, T-Man, leaving footprints in the hearts of people everywhere he travels...

Anyone got any profiles for day 2? I would like to pick up my lungs which I left somewhere on that climb last year?

Was the best!! Day 2 rocked. 4 hours to get to the top. Less than one to get down. A shame I don't have an entry for the actual race.

LOL....I would not call it secret training.

Doing the SabieX later this year for the first time so thought I would scout out the terrain.  What an awesome place to ride.  I will definitely be going back to conquer some more of those mountains.

How are things with you?

Wasn't the best weekend for me. I looked so forward to it. On Day 1 I suffered way more than I thoughtI would. Guess there was a reason...became sick after day 1 and suffered from fever (ice cold, then darn hot) the rest of the weekend. I am so dissapointed. I was really looking forward to these 3 days. I guess 1 out of 3 counts for something. Seeing all the MTB'ers leave in the morning leaves a scar...Hope you all enjoyed it. Can't wait for Dec, although the heat of Day 1 serves as a reminder fo what is potentially waiting for us (even worse). Measured 39 degrees. In Dec, on a hot day it gets to around 45.
