I have one - Excellent !!! No problems. Gives al data, virtual trainer, maps, can take a powertap, Traiing Center has all info on your ride, can link your route to google earth to see area as per foto's - See landskapes- I am very happy !!!

Got a Edge 305 if you need advice - probably the best investment I have thus far, if you intend to study your data and use the training features that comes with both the 305 and 705 you can't go wrong, ie virtual partner (ride against yourself), router plotting and many more. I do think that the 705 at almost twice the price of the 305 personally was not worth it (only my opinion).

There've been a couple of topics recently about the 705. I also posted a write-up comparing it to the Polar S725 - this would give some ideas of the features and pitfalls.

If you do get one, I strongly recommend downloading and using SportTracks rather than the Garmin Training Centre software. The only downside to ST (and the reason I still occasionally use GTC) is that it doesn't display the Garmin maps.

As far a problems are concerned, I've recently been having an intermittent fault where it does not pick up any reading from the cadence/speed sensor.

best thing since sliced bread Big%20smileBig%20smile just use it with sports tracks great software. It can be used as a navigational tool as well with auto routing great to find places and mapsource is excellent for working out distances and routes.

i had the 305 and upgraded i will be lost without it Wink

has anyone succesfully paired the 705 with a srm' date=' powertap or cinqo? does anybody now why srm is so expensive compared to poertap?[/quote']

The Ant+Sport Powertaps haven't arrived in SA yet, but Garmin-Chipotle used them no problem for the TdF.

There will also be a firmware upgrade to current PT SL 2.4 hubs to make them Ant+Sport compatible.

So far I haven't heard any problems pairing the SRM.  The cinqo's only option currently is the Garmin and it works perfectly.

I have a 705 and it is an awesome piece of kit, love it!

I applauded Garmin for the great idea of combining speed/cadence on the back wheel which is perfect for indoor training without having to mess around with anything!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

BUT??

I have had the same problem with the 305 speed/cadence sensor.  Speed does not register although my cadence still works.  You can still use gps speed but useless for indoor training!

I escalated this problem to Garmin and they assured me that this is not a regular occurrence (I have replaced my speed/cadence sensor 3 times!)

Glad I can now show them your post!!

Wheelsize should not make a difference?

It does not register when the magnet passes the sensor.

Mine seems to detect the speed and cadence magnets - if you press the reset button, the light flashes the correct red or green whenever one of the magnets passes.

The problem seems to be that the head unit is not detecting the presence of the sensor, and when it does, the the sensor doesn't always transmit the data.
