Not sure if anyone has seen this but I thought I would share this.

The Toyota MTN Cycle Park in Bryanston, adjacent to Main Road between Sloane and Witkoppen, will provide a safe world-class facility for adrenaline junkies, and introduce the public at large to one of South Africa?s fastest growing pastimes?, says Andrew Kirby, Toyota SA.

According to Cycle Lab?s, Andrew Mclean, apart from its BMX track and MTB trail, the facility will house the necessary infrastructure for both would-be biking professionals and the community as a whole.

?There will be a parking lot, a Seattle coffee shop and a bike shop, and we will also have development bicycles on loan for underprivileged children in Diepsloot and other areas, so that they can be introduced to the sport,? said Mclean. The park will be opened to the public in November.

Look out for the new Toyota MTN Cycle Park corner Main and Sloane Steets, Bryanston

Features at the venue:

Adrenaline guaranteed racing

BMX dirt racing track

Entry-level tracks for youngsters

Advanced tracks for experienced riders

Bring your own bike or rent one for the day

Bike shop

Seattle coffee shop

Ideal for children?s parties

Where do you get 16 Nov?

The article heading says the park is planned to open in November, and the article was published 16 October. Geoff did mention in his last email that it would be in Nov, so I'm hoping for the first weekend. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. I did consider building a ramp to get over the fence, but the Mapogo security dudes scare the sh*t outta me!

mmmm the 20 visit card is not to bad. But i think (and of course it's my personal opinion) kids under 13 should be free. If dad takes his 2 or 3 kids on a Sunday morning for a "quality time with my kids ride" it could work out expensive.

Don't worry, Cyclelab is putting up a small store there. I'm sure they'll stock up well on helmets, shoes and cleats! Wink

ya, guess so.

You know. On Sat went out on a spruit ride with Nancy Drew, Mamba and Chris. Saw 2 guys with R20K + bikes,... and no helmet... Yesterday at N Farm... I thought that policy was imposed there too. But I guess not strong enough as I saw many families with kids riding without helmets. I did think of stoping and calling the dad's aside to ask the why no helmets. But I remembered the last time I did that, nearly get a punch for asking such a silly quesion...

Maybe the nearly punch wasn't for the silly question, but for not minding your own business...

Do you ask smokers why the cigarettes?
