Why do I care when nationals are? So I can go and watch and see how its done and aspire to do what these guys/ladies do. Maybe try and become a good rider. Or should I sit at home and leave it to you guys/ladies to race with no spectators so that you can come back and bitch and moan that the "funriders" do not support you "pro" riders. If you have to have an attitude like that then I rather stay a funrider before I too become an asshole.

Instead you with the vast experience should tell us "funriders" how to ride and how to train to maybe oneday become a champion.

Funride world champs versus SA road champs - world champs will always win.!

The old SACF tried this many years ago by having the Report cup track meeting a very prestigious meeting on the same weekend many years ago needless to say the Argus still go on but the Report cup doesn't

I rest my case' date=' Souf Effrikans are all FUN RIDERS.  You hear me, you are all FUN RIDERS.  Go pack your attitudes away.  You are FUN RIDERS.  LOLWink

Reasons to have SA's in March:

Better weather conditions

Less ilness amongst potential participants (flu' date=' colds, etc.)

It's a feasible time for our European pro's (yes, all 5 of them) to make the trip and compete.

That way our national championship jersey might possibly end up racing in the Tour de France, or at least other big international races

The 3 riders on Barloworld might already be here for the Giro del Capo

The sun rises earlier and sets later during the summer, meaning those riders who are in school, at university, or hold full time jobs (eg. vets) will have more daylight to train in (from about November to March), giving them the opportunity to prepare better for the event.

Schools and universities usually have exams in June, so March is a more favourable time for u14's, u16's and juniors (as well as some u23 or elite riders who do study. BTW quite a number of local pro's study through Unisa)

A lot of people (again especially the scool riders u14, u16 and junior) have a longer holiday during December/January allowing them to do proper base training for the race in. Riders working full-time (vets, masters) will perhaps also have a week or two to train around Christmas and New Year's.

For junior riders that wish to go to Europe for a couple of months, SA's in March is also better, since the European junior season is from about mid May to August. Otherwise they have to wait til after SA's to go and that could mean going for a much shorter time.

Local pro teams that wish to race abroad (like Konica Minlolta did in 2006 and 2007) end up with most of their riders missing SA's becuse it's not financially feasible to fly back (eg. Jay Thompson, Herman Fouche, Christoff van Heerden and Pieter Seyffert all missed SA's in 2007 for this reason, meaning the u23 field was depleted of some of its best riders).[/quote']

Reason not to have it in March - its at the peak of track season.

Reason to have it in June - its in the middle of road season.

Ive won medals at Nationals and a sh*t load at Regionals. Colour wise they were mainly gold, but then 1st,2nd and 3rd got a gold trophy and then some were blasted glass, pieces of Marble etc. I got them in 125 Senior and Open Senior races....Oh ****you talking about cycling not motocross??

Ok let me start again, I got a sh*t load of medals from races they hand them out the end of every funride and league event. I never took one on Sunday thou cause it had a spelling mistake on.

June is the middle of road season?  Maybe in Europe.

Why does the SA season mirror Europe?  I never get that.  Track is meant for winter when the weather is bad and road for summer.  Those Aussies apparently are smarter than us.  They get it, we don't.

I just asked a question to someone else and you came and threw your little Angry face with your cocky attitude... So before you go and call other people assholes, look at your own damn responses... Cause if you are going to get cocky, do you really think i am just going to keep my mouth?? and if you are just a spectator, what is the concern about when it is?? just arrange to go watch the race the same way you would have done it in march and just watch the weather before you pack so you know if it going to be hot or cold or maybe if you have to take an raincoat...

Come now, lighten up, it is a friday man!!
