I make fun of others so, that opens me up to the same stuff from others and if it was a problem, I would have zipped the lip.

 

Look slike we ride at 8. The oxman wants to intorduce a new ride partner to the crazies in the south. He either holds us in high regard, or he has no value in the friendship and wants his friend to go away.

 

They may, after meeting us hey? (or do I just change feet for myself here?)

haha Kid. I have long suffered from Hoof in mouth. Nothin new to me. The doc say's he can't help me. It's one of those things you have to do yourself and want to do it.

 

I can't think how life would be without my hoof in my mouth so I just open it to change feet.

 

Nance is not going to keel us. I am going to hide behind the reason that I am looking after the Ox and his mysterious friend.

 

You know, new bikes need mechanics?

 

Nance and Oxcan fight for top honours and it sounds like WW wants to come along too. I'll sit on the farm gate and watch th bloodshed.

Well...seems you guys are planning warmer rides?!

I definately need to consider hibernation after this weekend...and its not even winter yet!

 

But, seeing as Slave hooked me up with some winter garb I now have no excuse for the winter chills!

I'm also keen to see this "new addition" that Os is bringing along.

All I'm doing is bringing along a friend who recently bought a road bike (OK, it looks like mine), and wants to take up cycling - more specifically MTBing and later on some hopefully duathlons.

 

My friend did the 2006 Hyper to Hyper on a rigid fork MTB in  04:06 and some seconds. Found the whole road cycling thing to be somewhat lonely. So this is what this ride is all about from my side. Showing that road cycling is not and does not have to be a lonely and lonesome pursuit.

 

As the general fitness levels are most probably lacking a bit, I thought that we can do the short slow/social loop but somehow we accomplished to morph it into a completely different ride. SO, no mysteries! Just a nice (hopefully) pleasant introductory ride to convince a friend that cycling on the black strip next to the dirt can be fun!

Had an e-mail from Nance requesting we meet and start ride at 07h45. 15 minutes earlier than we are planning.

 

Would this be an issue?

 

Who is going to be doing this ride? So far it seems like just the four of us. Kid has some hooglian game like soccer to get kid-kids to. Trubie has some far away ride in Limpopo. Owl, what's on your agenda?

 

I need to chat to my other mate Pierre and his SO so maybe six of us and possibly the owlman.

 

Trubes, have you noticed how quiet Owl is about the weekends rides? Maybe he doesn't want to share it with us. (Truth is, I extracted the truth over the weekend - Ve haf vays und means, but would prefer to leave it for him to tell.)

I read that a lot of guys threw in the towel after a couple of laps, due to the wind chill factor.

I do belive our Owl would have been wise enough to either not start or finish by wearing appropriate kit to protect from the cold, so I wanna know yes, but its fine sometimes somethings are better left unsaid.

Poor man was feeling under the weather (and it was crap weather at that.)

 

Has a sore throat so he withdrew which was probably very wise. That wind was really unpleasant so even being a spectator was removed from my agenda and I just went home after the ride. Glad I didn't hang around in that cold wind for long else I would also be sick too.

 

I think the owl was correct in making a strategic withdrawal. He only got his kit late on Sunday arvie anyway and even that wouldn't have helped. Rest is best when you have the winter bugs.

well hello, hello, hello.....

what's this about me keeeelling people?  I don't log on for a few days and look at how much fun I've missed out on.

 

Slaveman and Oxman and co, thank you for accommodating me time-wise, I think I had rocks in my head when I volunteered at the school on Saturday to do a parents 'clean up & maintenance' day... so ja, shortly after our ride i'll be armed with a ladder and paintbrush or a garden fork and spade in an effort to make the school all spic and span for 'open day' next week..... eish

 

Owl, sorry that you missed out on your race dude... I'm on my way over now with some med-lemon and honey to fix you up

Will be my first ride after having my gallbladder out (laparoscopically) last Thursday so road would suite me .......

 

I'll just see how it goes by Friday. Doc said I could ride Saturday. Having my stitches out Friday so I'm hopefull. Feeling ok at the moment. Still some discomfort but better all the time.
