GO dude. I would love to have been able to hook on but eish, that was some speed you put in there. We were cruising at 48 and you came past like we were loking for parking. The rest of the guys didn;t even pick up the pace. An I was not able to up my speed to hook on. You talking to the slowpoke slave dude, remember.

You tell 'em about trining hills for a fast flat race. I been trying for more than a week and they don't want to hear me. None so deaf as the SBR addicts.

Dude, I need some bits to start building that Colnago. We need to chat about what you have lying about, haggle the price and then strike a deal. Francois is not negotiable on his price.

Later dudes.

That Barbara ave is a mean b!tch of a hill...but definately not a climbers hill. More of a power climb...great for sprint training....but damn its painfull!

I also like doing Biggarsberg, from Checkers centre up to Vista drive. Thats also hard.

Slave, as far as I understood that frame came with a whole bunch of spares as well? Thats what F was telling me. Let me know what you need and I'll have a look around for you.

Yeah...that was a pretty hot pace along that road yesterday. Had 2 guys that latched on initially, but they lasted 1km max. Never went below 52kph for that 10km stretch to the bridge! Was cool! And...we had quite a nice blast up the Steps as well. By the top there was only 6 of us left, we were stopped at the traffic lights on Klipriver and there was still no sight of any bunch behind us!

GREYOWL, you so in love with hills that you no longer see flats.

Glad you in for Saturday but it will be a small group.

Help Slavey boy out he wants to bring the Colnago to SBR to do a sub 2hr.

And you still owe me an explanation but that can wait for Saturday.

An explanation? Your referring to the 'club' conversation? Thats cool...look forward to it Kiddo!

Yeah, I'm in love with hills...make no doubt. But training in the hills for a fast flat race is plain dumb. IMHO (as the senior ranking, former Pro ASGR rider) the last 6weeks prior to an event like the Fast One, time spent in the SBR is non beneficial. We (ASGR) should be doing fast intensity rides on the roads that make up the route of said race...not farting around in the mountains of the SBR.

Yes that explanation.

So that's why you were riding away from Land Rovers yesterday ?

You also know that 2 weeks after the Fast One there are other races which aren't so flat ?

GO, mountains are fun to ride! The Fast One is on a race I am aiming at. I will do it but it is not a goal. Argus is my goal. I want a sub 3 in that and the two places I can make up lots of time is on Smitswinkel and Suikerbossie.

Grimpeur - I like that!! smiley4.gif

Fair comment...but you were not discussing those events in as much detail as the Fast One. And, IMHO the Fast One is great for bumping your seeding up.

You cant be geat for every race...you have to choose your races carefully.

Fair enough Andy. But, I still maintain the flat fast intense efforts are more beneficial than slogging away permanantly on hills. Balance it out. Hard fast intervals on flat roads do wonders for you...I train mostly on hard fast efforts. I've yet to go through SBR in anything over 2hours. (all 76kg's of me!) But hey, I aint giving away all of my training and racing secrets.
