We just need to finalise the route and one or two other small items, like can I nvite someone slower than me? A non hubber, or do we keep this as a hub ride?

We also don't really want the group to be too big otherwise the bird might fly away.

I think it goes wthout sayng that we want to make sure to observe the rules of the road and especially observe consideration to other road users, although at that time of the morning, I don't anticipate a lot of traffic.

I am very much in favour of doing the fast one route as far as Meyerton and then back again. Then again, my agenda is slightly different than anyone elses.

Slave, you mentioned taht we meeting at Rietvlei, are you sure that they are open at 5am so that Andy & Predictor can leave their cars there ?

Ok maybe Predictor will cycle from Meyerton ???

P is a hard core cyclist.

I'm sure if you look back far enough, he recently cycled in from some far way planet.

Another alternative is for our northern buds is for them to park at Panaorama. Maybe we can all meet there and then go Up butchers for a bit of a warmup, cycle down to Nasrec and get on the fast one course from the beginning.

There are many options kid. Andy can park at your place, or mine. No problems. Predictor can also park there, or we can meet at Bracken City.

Very considerate f you Kid.

That's not a half bad idea. If we park at your place, Ride to Nasrec and hen ride to the vall tech and home, it will be about 180 plus km. At least we will be assured that on race day, we have solved a few of our problems. That of parking and getting to Nasrec and that of getting home.

Will try to find out if Rietvlei is open at that time of the day.

And with that, we find our thread has grown to 400 pages of drivel. And somewhere down the line recently, I managed to get to 3000 posts.

Damn, I am good at talking cr@p. Long way to go before Holy's crown is in danger though.

Nance - MTB appears to be working smoothly again.

Kid, we should just do the whole route and time ourselves. Saves us doing it in January with all the other traffic on the route. Nutter indeed!!

Hmmm...I sure as hell aint in the mood for a 180km+ ride on saturday!

So, that said...I reckon meeting at the Rietvlei, down to Klipriver, down the Steps and along the Fast One route is a good plan. I know the route like the back of my hand...so we can head out past Meyerton....and head back once past Midvaal. Should be in the region of 100-110km.

Like Slave said...a nice distance ride...and lets keep it safe.

I've literally just returned from my afternoon ride and that wind was very unpleasant!

So all we need to confirm is the meeting place.

I think Panorama is about the best, even though I wont like climbing Klipriver too much. It's a lot more fun going down Klipriver.

Then we'll just follow the route on the back of GO's hand.
