Sidewall cut

Ok, guys I have a pretty nasty sidewall cut that I picked up on the race in Dullstroom. It lasted well till our 4 hour ride this morning when it went flat twice. I just pumped it up to 4 bar and the sealant spurted out until it looked like it stopped and was sealed. The tyre is a Maxxis Larsen non UST. Should I replace the tyre. Have any of you had luck with patches on the inside?

I personaly see a sidewall cut as 'game over' for a tire, even more so if it's a serious cut.  If I were you, I would replace it.

I always have a R10 note with me if i have a cut i patch it with the note till i get home and then put a new tyre on.Your sidewall take a lot of pressure in a turn.

No sidewall cut on a new tyre is so big that it can not be fixed . At R400+ a tyre I am willing to take the change with an fix job .

How do you get the patch to sit on the inside, remember it's tubeless...

Glue ?? You don't need to seal it , just gotta close the hole a bit , Stans will do the rest .

I tried the MTB thing but the muds wasnt for me..so now i stay on the tar

As DR says at the price of tyres these days if it's still got lots of life I have in the past repaired small ones with just a patch inside. Do it the same as I would a patch on a tube. Clean the area nicely, rough up a bit and put solution then after it's dry apply the patch sorted!

 

If the cut is a bigger (bulges even with a patch inside) I have also sewed it up with dental floss, also did the patch inside for extra security and in fact have just recently replaced one of those cause it had worn out.

 

On the other hand if you got the bucks to burn just buy a new one .......

Jeez I thought I was thrifty but BB and DR take the cake. I hate to be a prophet of doom, but I foresee the patch bulging out of the cut you describe. As for dental floss....
