I have a theory based on reading all of this:

It seems as if hubbers greet other cyclists, so therefore it is the non-hub cyclist who does not greet and is not linked to being a roadie or a dust muncher! Big%20smile

The only people that should greet each other are Land Rover owners just in case they break down. The same argument goes on between LR owners as well. The guys who drive Defenders wont greet Free landers or Discoveries oops wrong forum and they are not LR's anymore I heard that TATA have taken over the LR brand ooops still the wrong blerrie forum.

Ok going to get my coat and hat I'm outa here.Evil%20Smile

It may be that they are waaay to tired from riding so hard on the thin wheels on the tar and the heat all en all.

MTBers are a bit like taxi drivers - you only acknowledge them out of necessity, other wise another roadie might see you and disrespect you.

Now that I have your attention Clown Most roadies up here in Joburg greet me, to such an extend that going in the opposite direction of a cyclelab morning ride becomes a painful experience - the only exception are the "zoned" okes, you know, the type whose training is waaaaay to important to acknowledge his fellow human being.

Ok, you really want to know?

It's like this... Most roadies are having affairs with the partners of most mtbers, who are much impressed by their speed, aerodynamic lines & mud-free state.

So when you see a roadie coming towards you they are either hurrying towards or away from the scene of the crime, with bigger & better things on their mind than waving to a mtb'er whose  bed they are familiar with.  Anonymity is also a factor.

The speed advantage means as soon as a mtber leaves the house a roadie can get there, be in and out in much more than the customary 3 mins.; have a post coital smoke & still be back on the road in time to ignore the jolly waves of the oblivious mtb'er returning.

That's why.

Don't get me started on the public loos thing either. There we are also part of a brotherhood. We all have a common interest there. It would be polite to greet every fellow pisser at the urinals' date=' and compliment the person's fart if it's a good oneWink

i ride a total of 40 km's to work and back on my mtb every day and this is the outcome of friendly greetings along the way:

mtb: 100%

roadies: 20%

WHY????

Mayby you should cut the crap and stop counting and start riding your bike properly.  Might cut your commuting time in half smiley2.gif
