does any one know of a good program, specificaly to race MTB, that is 1day of riding, 1day of rest. when you ride must you ride hard? what type of riding must you do in order to acheive max benifite? Is it possable to race competively while doing such a training program? would love to ride everyday just a bit pressured with varsity.

thanks

Naturally. that's the point.

The kind that makes you bleed from the ears.

No.

No expert or anything but I don't think you need to kill yourself on a training ride. If you gonna ride every alternative day how much riding are you planning to do? I find that I struggle with longer MTB races as I only ride 1.5 hrs a day, doing +/- 40km and at the moment I do that twice a week, I race most Wed nights (even though I've been slacking a bit lately) and I do at least 1 ride/race a weekend.

It works for competing in 40km or so races but anything above I think you'd struggle....my opinion anyway....

How well do you do at races in the womens racing section?

Most training programs worth anything will tell you to ride at least 5 days a week.

one off and one on is not going to give you a good base and I only got better with more riding. More days, longer distances and faster speeds.

One hard day, followed by one easy day is better than one on and one off.

But, like that's just my opinion.

Bit OT but I too always laugh at those kids who find varsity or school a pressure. Just wait til you get to the real world, bud, you'll find that if you can't cope you don't get bad grades, you get fired...

My approach to training is to ride as fast as I can for as long as I can...

Start riding to your piss-ups. If you do the pre-drinks properly, a 10km trip can become a good training ride once nav errors are thrown in. Just keep the two sets of waterbottles distinctly seperate
