Does the complex not have security guards?

Forget the security guards, what about the burglar bars? Confused Not that I approve the theft, but you don't protect expensive bikes with a glass door in SA.

Hope you find the bikes though.

A lot of us are coming to Cape Town in less than a month for the fun ride. Do you guys think it is still safe to come as it sounds worse than Gauteng down there nowadays.

Even crime now here in Angolsh. They stole our plastic garden table and chairs from the veranda last night. I am now getting a armed guard.

Cycling is still safer down here in the cape. However i think thier is a shift now from targeting cyclist to targeting bike shops rather.Basic economy of scale.

This crime thingy seems to be a world-wide phenomena, there are even reports of bicycles stolen in Europe!!! What is this world coming to??

But, I'm sure an armed guard in Angolsh is way more effective, and cheaper, than the normal ADT / Chubb 'armed' response available locally!

PS: Never been sure whether the local 'armed' response units refer to the staff members having arms, or that they carry fire-arms, and are willing and ABLE to use them...

bike's have always been stolen in europe, it's not a fantsatic island without crime, poverty, unemployment etc. - only the boldness and simpleness (running into a shop with a vehicle) is not exactly european style.

I presume that when you say that they are 'even' being bikes stolen in europe you refer to those nice jobs where they steal all bikes of a team - that's always been there, especially at big events like world cups, europen and world champs...
