Some very useful stuff here...what spares and kit would you guys take on the trip but not on the ride, i.e. stuff you would keep in your overnight stash?

surely the stuff you guys are mentioning should be taken on every ride, in case something goes pear shaped on a training ride?

For Sani, 2 tubes are too many.  One tube is sufficient if you are tubeless and have plugs.  Putting tubes into tubeless setup must be last resort, as you never really get the tyre inner clean, and you end up with punctured tubes just about 90% of the time.  I will take a gator on the Epic - sidewall cuts are probably more of a possibility.  On stage races I am not even carrying bombs - my Lezyne pump, pumps a tyre nearly as fast as a bomb, and you can use it over and over.  Otherwise, masterlinks, dropout, brake pads (if it is a wet day), multitool should be sufficient.

Could those of you with extensive lists of spares and tools please post your race numbers, so that I know who to flag down if anything goes wrong with me/my bike.

Ride with less (less weight), plus you get respected for riding hard when stuff does break.

Remember the pros who rode a stage on last years Epic on their rim because they run out of tubes = respect!!

So what I'm saying is lose stuff like the dropout. If it breaks, setup your bike to be a single speed, kick ass. Instant respect!!

It's easy to ride your rim when you're a pro, you don't have to buy another one afterwards, it gets paid for by your sponsor.....
