For those of you who didnt see this post of my dad crashing because his KCNC stem broke.

https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=42292&PN=1

After reading the post on the hub Sean for KCNC contacted me to get his details to my dad.   My dad phoned him and he met my dad within a hour and half at WE.  He apologised to me dad that something like this has happend.   Apparently this is the first stem that he distributed that broke, that includes some of our countries top riders.   He has send it back to Taiwan for proper analylis.  He also told my dad that his fork was a recall (something that WE should have done).

He send my dad a new stem free of charge, no questions asked.

All and all 10/10 for their aftersales/aftercrash service.

sounds like they were just trying to cover their arses. had your dad been seriously injured due to their equipment failing' date=' things could have gone sour very fast for them. [/quote']

So in other words damned if you do, damned if you don't....

Not the feeling we got. Only like a concerned distributor that is doing everything he can under the circumstances.  There is no proof that why the equipment failled at the moment, will update when we get news after the analysis.

What should they have done or how should KCNC have reacted?

dont get me wrong, they did the right thing, but it shouldnt be lauded as amazing service. Their product failed and could have been the cause of a serious accident. It's the LEAST they could do.

That is not true- my kcnc mountainbike stem cracked at one of the bolt holes and a riding buddy has cracked two of them. ?Needless to say neither of us use kcnc anymore.

In fairness to the distributor I didnt try to tell him but based on my experience, your problem is not an isolated incident.

oh FFS man, what's the oke supposed to do? Prostrate himself on the ground, self flagellate, administer medicinal fellatio? I'd say he's done a great job; it may not even have anything to do with the stem, perhaps it was fitted incorrectly, could be a 1 in a million fault (these things happen). Point is he could have ignored it, but instead intervened. That's called good service, clearly you wouldn't know it if it jumped up and bit you in the a$$.

Firstly dude, there are supposedly kids who read this forum, so lay off the random foul language. It's really not intelligent. Secondly, READ further, cos I said "dont get me wrong, they did the right thing, but it shouldnt be lauded

as amazing service. Their product failed and could have been the cause

of a serious accident. It's the LEAST they could do." Now go play with your toys.

And yes, we dont know how it broke, but it's funny how people are now saying the same happened to them too. Sounds like a design/manufacture fault to me. I've ridden bikes for years and have never seen or heard of a stem snapping, except this KCNC bunch.

Looks like you're one of the kids. Do me a favour, please, and point out the 'random foul language', cretin. I'd like to see if you are capable of 'reading' and actually understanding the words I have written.
