Which is exactly what I want to go and tell them. Just as soon as forum posting ability has been approved by some moooderator or the other at CAR. Might be a long wait if they've been here recently...

Say for instance there is slow moving lorry in the road. One that moves slower eben than cyclists. Do you drive into the truck? Force it off the road? Arsehole.

That argument has been done to death TNT, I hear what you are saying but a big truck, bus, slow moving vehicle "HAS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO", it takes up the road due to its inherant size - cyclists on the other hand "CAN RIDE IN SINGLE FILE" - big bunches taking up the entire road is not acceptable - they have alternatives.

I spend 6 hours a day in the car most days, I will sit behind a slow moving truck (even though its irritating) because I understand the fact that it is one lane big, I will not sit behind a group of cyclists riding 5 abreast because they have alternatives - most drivers are the same.

So you are saying that your arrogant mindset of entitlement prevails? Great. If cyclists think like this behind the wheel of their cars. We are collectively f*cked.

Doesn't really matter if the cyclists are in single-file or not. What matters is if you attempt to murder them (and on occasion actually succeed) in proving you are right. Whoopee. You get to be right, and some poor women gets to be a widow. Nice.

I can't believe what I am reading on that Car website ... what a bunch of Nazis. There is so much hatred out there for cyclists. These guys need some input from a different perspective. Who else is going register and join the discussion?

Interestingly enough we are probably the only city in the country that still allows horsedrawn carriages on the road,  okay there arent that many of them left and they generally stick to parts of the cape flats but,  when last did you hear of anyone driving into one of them?

TNT, of course not.. I might be in the minority here, but I will wait behind the  5 abreast groups without trying to drive them into the gutter, but the bad language born of frustration should not suprise them...

Other motorists, it appears are not that interested in waiting and then swearing... and thats where Porky's post comes in....

Why ride 5 abreast and piss of all and sundry when there is an alternative?

Is it because they can....?

The 500 SEL is so heavy not even a truck motor would get the thing to over 15 k mph.

Similar to my point, but according to Porky's first rule of entitlement, car wins. Against everything. Unless it's bigger then your car... Wait, I'm confused. No, wait, I've got it. Arrogant c*nts in cars will drive over whatever is in their way. Especially if they percieve they are in the right, and they can get away with it.Confused

KDEE. I have to assume that you are also a motorist when not riding a bike.

I love to ride next to my mate and chat, but let's face it. It is absolutely not necessary to ride two abreast, especially when there is no emergency lane wide enough to do that.

Most times, I think, motorists ger peed with us because we also have the same "forkjou houding" as they have. They in a hurry to get somewhere and we are out joyriding, chatting to our buds and we often refuse to give way.

I have often seen cyclist from the seat of my car, riding two abreast in the road and giving the middle finger salute when you give a short hoot to draw attention to the fact that they are blocking the road.

Admittedly, if it was a truck, it would have nowhere to go and we would be forcedto wait until we can pass it safely.

Then again, is the expectation of motorists that we ridein single file. Not an unreasonable expectation and it would be polite to move to the side of the road so that a motorist can pass.

There is wrong stuff on both sides of the coin, but that is so irrelevant.

Car Vs Bike. We come second every time.

We owe it to ourselves and fellow cyclists, to be courteous and polite and not offer ammunition to the other side.

I be the first to admit that I am guilty of transggression of the rules and I will make it my mission to ensure that I never do that again.

Like Ghandi said, be the change you want to see in the world. So, it starts with me. I'm taking the first step. Who else is with me?

In my estimation, its because they are the same arrogant bunch who when they get in their car will drive over their own family if it helps them win the race to the next robot, and to prove that they are in the right. Arrogant c*nts don't change, whatever their mode of transport. Its still doesn't make sense to advocate killing them with your car, as has been mooted both on Car's website, and, shockingly, on this thread.
