see if that saddle is OK. Often the oem saddles are soft and bad quality.

I would suggest a tubeless conversion as well and possibly some different tyres.

Otherwise you are good to go!

2 clowns did the Epic on fully rigid single speeds a year or two ago.

What do i NEED to upgrade ?

Go tubeless' date=' so maybe some new tyres. Maxxis Crossmark are awesome.

This may be your best bet for an UPGRADE - will make a huge dif when riding - everything is hard, so to fix tires is extra crap.

Bar ends like the cane creek ergo II's will help you to find multiple hand positions during the long stages and keep your paws from getting sore.

Go tubeless with UST tyres, yes they are heavy and expensive but you'll have much less hassles with punctures in the long run.

Make sure the bike is serviced and maybe go for a bike setup so your comfy on the bike, but maybe its not a good idea to change it now?

Get good quality bib shorts and shammy cream and a saddle that your but likes and your good to go.  The Epic costs enough already, I dont see the logic in spending even more to upgrade your bike now.  Rather get a dually later or a lighter frame, its cheaper than upgrading individual parts.
