Anybody experience a warranty issue with Specialized --- I have Tarmac and has developed a crack @ the seatpost insert on the front side , The boys from Specialized reckon that it only is a paint crack !? Anybody have a similar experience ?

I thought I'm the only one...

 

 

 

I also have a bad crack, and sent the bike in for a claim only to have it rejected as a paint crack.

 

 

 

I have two cracks. One clearly at the same place yours is.(front side of seat post on top tube on the red paint 3cm long. The other is on the BB that can be felt with your finger nails but can only be seen in sunlight.

 

 

 

They returned the frame to me also rejecting the claim as 2 paint cracks. Saying I must break it completely...

 

 

 

I can live with that for now, but I see the cracks growing slowly. Soon I will have to send it in when its un-ridable.

 

 

 

Other problem is they have no service centre in Cape Town that can make a decision and it cost a fotune to send it up via courier to JHB for 2wks

 

 

 

I love my TarmacSL but I will never buy another Specialized. Must ride it till I snap it.

Is this the official Specialized rep that is telling you guys that it is "only cracks" in the paint, or is it a specialized dealership (shop)?

 

Cracks in the paint could be a sign of a crack in the material below the paint.

 

Unfortunately most warranties dont include paint.... radiculously!!
