So I haven't washed my bike since Sani & the chain is rusted now I saw last night. It has no stiff links or anything?

Question: Can i drop it in Hydrochorlic(sp) acid to remove the rust??

take it off the bike' date=' stretch it tight and use a steel brush to take off the rust.[/quote']

Thats PT.

The acid can like to do that for me?

Buy a new chain' date=' that ones farked, all you are going to do is trash your chain rings and casette[/quote']

Having done the sani, I'll second that!

Rather replace the chain now, than the complete drive train later.

Oil it and go ride. The rust is completely cosmetic.

Inside the chain, where rust would matter, the chain is not rusted. Even a clean chain contains enough oil inside to inhibit any serious rust. A chain that had no oil inside and is rusted very badly will be stiff and crusty.

Put the hydrochloric acid in the pool, cancel the order for poisonous Oxalic acid, oil the chain and ride.

lube and ride - its fine (from a rust point of view)

The Sani wasnt muddy enough to trash a chain, unless it was borderline before.

As you yourself pointed out in the lubrication barney next door, the only friction as a chain rolls over a sprocket is inside the chain. How then will a bit of rust trash chainrings and sprockets?

And before a red herring is sneaked in again, lets be clear about the rust we're talking about. It was a bit of brown rust that wasn't deep enough to stiffen the chain.
