Are there any conversions to make a hardtail ride 'softer'.

Riding the non-stop and dreading the distance on my Hardtail

Any advice or suggestions welcome

(I wouldn't consider "don't ride the race" as advice)

Go tubeless and drop the pressure

Stand the whole way. Your legs are the best suspension money can buy.

And to make sure you dont sit down, remove your saddle before the race.

Hi Crow - please excuse my novice response but fitting a shock, swingarm and some pivots means little to me... I want to understand.  Is this possible as a conversion to existing bike and where would I get information to explain the dynamic in laymans terms?

Swapping the frame is something I really don't want to do at this stage

I have been searching for a 2nd hand Thudbuster (new @ 1500)

I will also go ahead with the conversion to tubeless

Thank you for your help!

Convert to tubeless and put fatter takkies on as well, like a 2.3, that sort of region will go long way towards making it a little better.

Was a bad joke. Shock, pivot and swingarm is all dual suspension country. Have a look at this link for other suspension seatpost options:

To the right half way down the page there are links to USE, Outland and System's suspension posts.

At the end of the day you can't beat a Thudbuster as a quick, relatively cheap solution. Buying a dual will be the right, better, more rewarding if more expensive option.
