I also wonder why they still bother with tubes. I think it is superstition and pro athlete hocus pocus. No single group of people are more superstitious and prone to believing myth than professional athletes. With slime they will save time. Period.

 

I briefly read the blog above and wonder who Burry (?) tested and compared the rolling resistance of the various tyres. Given that it is in the order of grams, I'll be very keen to see how he arrived at his conclusions.

How do the pros recover from a flat tubeless? Do they plug the tyre and inflate with a bomb or do they rip out the rim strip and put a tube in? Do they even carry tubes?

I finished my third epic this year on maxxixs larsen wire beads with tubes

I have had one puncture in each epic. this years one was due to cheap ryyder sealant that didn't work

It was a Specialized tyre test (done by Specialized). They tested various brands, not just their own. On rollers with a power meter for rolling resistance, and then a day of field tests. Apparently they liked the  Bontragers, although I don't know which they ended up riding with.
