Not sure if it'll work for you, but I there are guys that bleed their Magura HS33's with it.

mineral oil? from minerals probably. just go get some rocks in your back yard and squeeze the oil out of them

Tried that, but i ended up with smaller pebbles, then a few diamonds and some water, but no mineral oil.

Come on FanD, you know almost everything...?

i have mineral oil that i use when i service my customers bieks but it will be a waste for me to send it to you rather try willie englebrecht (SP??) or cycle lab for a bleed kit

What do you use mineral oil for?

Well DUH! To oil your minerals! Tongue

Just kidding. Studies have shown that cooking your food in mineral oil helps greatly with weight loss.

Got a bleed kit, but after using last year and doing a mates bike as well I ran out of oil - don't wanna buy a new kit just for the oil.

Will chat to the LBS and see if they can help.

Mineral oil is used in your car's gearbox.... should be easy to find !

you get different types of mineral oil and the one used in your cars gear box is a bit thicker than the one you use in shimano and avid brakes because of the size of the working parts in each item

There are three basic classes of miineral oils:

paraffinic oils, based on n-alkanes

naphthenic oils, based on cycloalkanes

aromatic oils, based on aromatic hydrocarbons (not to be confused with essential oils)

What type should one use ?

(error in my previous remark, I think gearbox oil is usually vegetable oil )

Mineral oil is a fancy word for oil that comes out of the ground. The Arabs have lots of it.

You can buy the stuff at a bike shop but take out a Stannic loan beforehand. It is expensive. R240 for a little bottle.

I think I should buy a 20l drum of the stuff and sell it for R239-99 a bottle. I'll make a killing.
