I raced in the Suikerbosrand Route 41 race this weekend. What a great race.

I got a puncture early into the race and hence was passed by a lot of cyclists. After replacing the tube I got back on the track. Unfortunately I was caught behind a lot of guys pushing their bikes uphill and downhill. Which is fine, because honestly, we all do.

However, what really annoyed me was the amount of people pushing their bikes in the track and walking in the other track (duel track). This meant that whoever wanted to cycle couldn't and had to get off and push behind them. I would think that it is common courtesy to push your bike off the cycling track?

Am I the only one annoyed by this?

The guys and girls who walk up the trails are tired. They don't expect faster guys behind them. Give them a loud (friendly) shout to save some track for you. I'm sure they'll move. Yesterday's race was flat and fast for the 50km riders. Normally the route will clear by the time the faster guys approach the finish.

they often do give way if they know you're coming.

one feel rather stupid, though, when one shouts 'track please' and they give way and then spin out (hypothetically speaking, of course)

had to try, though

hell i dont know about that. during argus mtn bike, I was to exhausted to even want to move, let alone move to the side.

but i must say, it is one of the worries for doing lap races, being overtaken by faster people while tired scares me a tad. if I have the energy I try to move, its just that it takes some time to move out the way Embarrassed
