as we head into a reccession, the supply of money will be less and less, as business becomes unable to generate profits.  Some businesses will close and others will refuse to give those hefty pay increases of two years ago.  We as consumers will have less to spend.  Obviously businesses will use every excuse to get you to part with your money.  Things like "we have to live too", "what about overheads" ext.  The simple rule will be supply and demand.  As the demand for bicycling parts decreases the prices will have to come down.  If they don't many bicycle shop owners may have to close shop.  In these times only the innovative will survive.  I know that one of my LBS's are making a neat profit each month, but then they are cheaper than any other LBS in the area.  Mail order outfits and low overhead outfits are still doing more than survive, but then again they  are cheaper.

In the end it is your money, spend it how you like.

PPA need to bring down the price of an entry fee so that more people can start cycling. Look at the cars that PPA reps are driving and the houses they are living in' date=' this all comes from the high cost of entry fees at races. Money attracks the pros and NOT the entry level cyclist. We need to promote cycling and NOT keep cyclist away due to high entry fees[/quote']

What cars are PPA reps driving? Who are the PPA reps? What is a PPA rep?

R60.00 to enter a race/funride is not a lot of money.

Look at the Argus entry fee vs people riding - your theory falls flat there.
