Yeah' date=' my name is there....  yes, I got a asthma attack in the points

race after laying first on points, yes I won the scratch the night

before, yes, I ride all the event BECAUSE there is a lack of Women on

the track.

My comment....your riding was not up to scratch. Please advise if you are a sprinter or endurance rider. With a warning!!!

I mean come on!

I'm not going to suck up to anybody to get into a team, I'm sorry!

I think that sought of shows why criticisms like these shouldn't be made public. The rider may have a valid reason why they are performing in a particular way. The organisers should contact the riders privately, it's called professionalism!

I should really know better than to argue with a redhead.....but if that's the case and the selectors was aware of that it's very harsh, but if they were unaware of that fact it should have been brought to their attention.

Just got an email from our club with the latest track selections.  It gives everybody's names that were selected' date=' but next to some there were comments written.  Now I want to know how the hell can you send out an email and make a comment next to someones name that states that their performance at the nationals were dissapointing and that they expected more from you. WTH!!!!!  Can't they just pop the guy an email to tell him in person.

I would be very peeved if that was me. Dead

I see the email orginated from Cycling South Africa. Not sure who did the spreadsheet.

jeez - imagine what they had to say about the guys that weren't selected.

Maybe "you did worse than those that were doing badly"

It is common practice in the corporate world, to have annual/bi-annual or quartely merit appraisal discussions. How would it be if all of your teams results gets circulated to everyone wfterwards , with the comments posted next to their names. In a normal world the culprit wil certainly be seriously reprimanded/fired.

Yah, fired for sure.

I also think it is poor form, and removes the other persons ability to defend him / her self with an explanation.

Dudes, CSA are a bunch of f^&kwits who couldn't organise a p1ss up in a brewery. This is just one case out of many that I have heard about.

Did you know that our Olympians entered, funded themselves because CSA couldn't get there act together before hand. They couldn't even get SA journalists their passes before the deadline (applications made once they were closed - daft stuff like that)

Constructive criticism can be healthy, but making it known in a spread sheet that was circulated.....idiots

just got a mail saying:

Hi

Pls place back on the web as the comments have been welcomed through all versions 2 to 5 by the parents as being informative and providing guidance

Abdul

i responded:

Great

I?m sure the parents also welcome the detailed individual attention each athlete received [with the comments being almost an exact copy and paste for each rider, why waste time on giving each rider their own feedback?]

With this wonderful individualised program in place, I?m confident that we'll see South African Cycling ride home with a clean sweep of gold medals in the 2016 Olympics. We'll be able to build on our massive successes in the past.

Or perhaps we will be able to see one more riders in the Tour in future years, we really are snapping at the heels of the Australians. They must be worried sick that their superb showing in professional racing will be trounced by our sheer depth of talent, of which we don't squander on ounce. They'll have to accept that their talent scouting, youngster motivating, physiological testing, morale boosting, nutrition optimising and career coaching is all just fancy pants modern mumbo jumbo, when all the little twits need is a good old fashioned negative reinforcement.

Don't listen the to the highly qualified experts in high performance cycling, with proper structures in place for talent management and development. Let's go back to basics, back to army principles, from the 1960s. Our heads are in the sand for a good reason - so no one can knock them off of course!

I must forward on my congratulations and compliments to the minister of sport,

Remind me please

Colonel posted the spreadsheet earlier. That was really funny. I would be really pissed off it it were me they were discussing however.

Where can we comment on their failings like with the liscence fiasco?

Strange that this spreadsheet is only discussed now when it has appeared after every Grand Prix/provincial event since last year.

Look, public humiliation sucks...and it should be done in a private manner.

But at the same time, if your not up to parr, I'm sorry you need to be told.

10years ago, there was virtually no communication from the selectors to the riders. We simply co existed. So the fact that they are now giving feed back is good.

The CSA...NOCSA whoever is selecting need to ensure their athletes are going to perform. But they also need to assist the riders if they are going to make comments like that.

I dont think its right to make it public knowledge...but its right to tell the riders personally. My 2c...
