Based on the Saturday weather forecast how many riders feel that the 100 miler should be postponed?

Whilst we are hard core MTBers I question the enjoyment factor?

Seems that making a joke these days on the hub is a no no.

Everybody doing the 100 miler knows the weather will be crap. To those doing the race I say good luck. To those deciding to stay home I say good choice. I for one will be doing the race and share in the pain and hardship with all the other riders.

If you can't take the heat' date=' stay out of the kitchen.

I suppose the fact that Robbo has done 5 Epics would make him a chicken/scared of riding 100 miles in gale force winds and p!ssing rain? Usual ill-considered comment.

i wanna know how many mtb'ers who endlessly call roadies panzies, will not bother pitching for the race tomorrow.

at least the roadies are honest and dont kid themselves.

Can't wait for the race report - and post some pictures too!

onetime is slightly on the mad side... he will probably do it 2x - just because

I have to agree with Fatty.

I consider myself to be reasonably hardcore, but I'm not stupid enough to be riding tomorrow just to prove it. I also love my drivetrain and brakes too much to put them through that.

ShockedShockedShocked

I am in his team... but not doing it 2x.. He can rather drag his team members to the finish than doing it 2x...LOLLOL

Having driven down to, amongst others things, ride the 100miler, I'd be pretty bleak if they cancelled the race.

Hi 100 Milers,

Wow! Mother nature sure is intent to make things interesting for us for the first edition of this event!

Our decision to press on is not taken lightly and we have carefully considered our options.

Unlike other MTB events that take you off the beaten track, this event is very accessible and many of you will have supporters along the way - this is a unique situation and gives us the peace of mind that we are able to monitor the event's status at all times.

We are also sure that cameraderie will prevail and that people will assist one another. For the seconds and supporters, pack enough warm clothing and blankets!

Participants are also well aware of the forecast conditions and should know to arrive prepared.

This is, afterall, an endurance event.

We have uploaded updated information and maps (also some kml - google earth ) on to www.amarider.co.za

Please read the info doc, it contains most of the information as well as directions to seconding points.

Make sure you are prepared and carry enough sustainance with you to comfortably make the respective stations. Layers of clothing is the key and make sure you have a waterproof/windproof outer shell to guard against the wind chill.

As the route heads northwest first we are hoping that the weather will help us a bit coming back home.

Just to confirm that the start is at 07H00, cut-off at Riebeeck Kasteel is at 14H00, prizegiving is at 15H00 and the official cut-off is at 18H00.

It is obvious that in case of adverse weather, our slower participants will be more affected, so please let us reserve the right to adjust cut-offs as conditions dictate.

Make sure that you consume enough liquids and food to sustain energy levels and use the stations that we provide.

All that is left is to say:

Good luck and see you on the route

regards

Meurant and Arina
