mach7-7 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Did u mean new car as in brand spanking new or are you wanting to upgrade? 2nd hand Mini Cooper S is so much fun to drive (go-kart like handling), although not always the most practical Might be crap to attach a bike rack to..... Also, they seem to hold resale value. I guess it depends on what you want in a car...
bak2basiks Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I am in the market for a new car. The poll has my ideal choices. Looking to spend ?R160 000. Any suggestions? The GT For that...there is nothing out there....sorry..... BUT.....a 2 year old Volvo V40 2.4i/T5 might be just the thing you want... Resale value........pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzze.....Nothing holds its value these days.....not even a VW Golf GTi.....retail maybe....but TRADE...forget it!
GoLefty!! Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 HE can get a 2 or 3yr Subaru Forester/ outback for R160 000!! You can be cheap/wise/ but you don't have to be boring.. Besides new is the fastest depreciating liability around. \ get a demo or good 2nd hand car.
ASTANA Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Would go for VW polo. Best of every aspect. Good looking, very nice driving, biggish for a hatch, you get a NEW car, safty wise good, you can add a bike on the roof or the back. Golf better option, but would not go 2nd hand on these cars, PPL tend to really USE these little fast cars. So stuffing the engine/transmission in the proses

Thumper Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Bud Take your 160K and buy a hilux! Think I saw a 2.7 single cab in fourways for about 140K. If you go a generation older you can pick up a double cab for that price.
Captain Slow Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 the best advice you should receive is NOT TO BUY A NEW CAR!!! Look at the demo or pre-owned market instead!!
Captain Slow Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Have a look at the Honda Civic 1.8 LXi Sedan. I have a 2008 with 62 000k's for R155000.00 with towbar.
AndreZA Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 It's rediculous to see what milage second hand cars have done. My car is 7 years old and stands on 109 000km. There is CS's Civic which is 1 year old and 62 000km. Where do you guys go to that you drive so much?
