Once the white hubs arrive, I will be building with the 240s hubs in white the 4.2 d rim in white with black spokes and red nipples.

DT Swiss is the bomb. I've tried Hope and Shimano - with Hope's the springs / pawls wear out eventually, and with Shimano cleaning and loading the bearings correctly is an issue (just my experience, I'm sure people will disagree).  I've had a XR1540 DT Swiss wheelset for 4 years now and I'm sold on them.

DT Swiss is serviced without tools - which means I clean them more often, and the star ratchet doesn't lose it's edge.  Buy the 240s if you're weight conscious or 340s if you're looking for a more robust build.

The local agent is great - I have used them direct when I've had wheels rebuilt after pranging.

Jagwil, I had a set of DT 240s and they were perfect from day 1, no hassles at all and I'd highly recommend them to anyone!!

Good looking bike. The D T Swis RWS skewers will look really great with those hubs (Black & Red) They will match the bike too.

Thanks jagwil

I like those skewers, most of the Specialized bikes from mid level up come equipped with them.

****sorry for the hijack****

I don't understand this obsession with CK hubs. There's nothing special in them that makes them a compelling purchase. They use cartridge bearings that are expensive and short-lived.

Mmm....my Chris King bearings are now into their 5th year and I know someone personally who has 10yrs on the original bearings.

The bearings are all fully servicable unlike normal cartridge bearings that AFAIK are not.

yeah but Shimano Hubs are also fully servicable. The freehu on those needs a removable seal again lik ehtey had in the past. I think I have to start nagging the 2 Frank's over in cheeseville again...

CK hubs are just too expensive for almost no advantage over SHimano XTR or DT Swiss Hugi 240s.

Hopes are great bling hubs but they are heavier than XT and more expensive. They are pretty though

oh yes,

(USD535-00 + 14% VAT+ USD35 shipping )x9= ZAR5804-10

still way cheaper than local retail price by 30%

and we wonder why CRC is popular with South African Mountain bikers

Yip.......... bought a Crankbrothers Joplin adustable seatpost from CRC them for R2100.00, in the LBS it goes for R3700.00.Smile

Same with a gobi saddle - got one for R670.00 in LBS R1700.00Smile

LBS's is loosing out because the are pricing themselfs outa the market!!!!  Maybe the LBS' need to negotiate better with their suppliers?

Sorry LBS' I dont feel sorry for you....... you need to be more clever, more customer driven and give us better service!!!!!
