I have the el-cheapo wired ones on the MTB and have not lost a bottle yet. I use the Rav-X plastic cages on the road bike and have not lost a bottle yet (For me it is easier to get the bottles in and out with the plastic ones)

 

Only problem is that some bottles don't re-inflate after squeezing the water out... need to bite the valve so it can pop out otherwise the bottle does not want to stay in the cage

They're like R700 a pop.....what kind of person spends R1500 on cages???? even with discount I think it's over the top...

Been using metal cheap one?s for ages - I bend them till the bottle sticks. The resulting scuff marks on the bottle complements the bike?s.

 

Got a Merida carbon one with the bike sometime ago - agree with the guy above: it works very well (some rubber thingy attached to top bolt).
