HOW MUCH TECH DO YOU REALLY NEED IN A FLOOR PUMP? THERE WAS A REASON YOU GOT A RYDER - ITS CHEAP. ALL PUMPS EVENTUALLY WEAR OUT.

LOL

I disappear for 1/2 an hour and come back to 2 pages full.

My informants tell me that Park tools have been having problems with the head attachment, so it's not being stocked anymore because of the number of come-backs.

Lezyne is nice and bling but I'm not spending that type of tom on a floor pomp.

Interesting, did some googling and there a few, but not many complaints about this. My LBS gladly sold it to my wife and I doubt that they would ruin their reputation to sell us a known faulty product. But that is what warranties are for.

A good alternative is the RavX, the rep told me he has not had any issues with them. It was a casual OT conversation and he was not promoting his brand. Even my LBS sells them with a smile.

I havent see Park Tool pumps around for a while, but have noticed that Giant has 2 options - both look quite smart. I like the look of the Topeak ones as well.

My Ryder pump has lasted me about 5 years, I have just had to replace the head and it wasnt too pricey.

Going to pop past one of my lbs's this avie as they have Giants & Ryders in stock, so will probably pick up one of those.

Good point. Cause if you have a warranty claim it you will be amazed how fast, red faced, staff will help you Tongue

Could always just sell it on the hub as new (with grease marks)

I've come to the conclusion that the best floor pump is the one with a stable agent behind it and who stocks replacement head rubbers. I recently bought a BBB and its head rubber is now worn out and the agent doesn't stock the spares.

The next thing after the head rubber to wear is the piston seal. Again, make sure it is either a simple O-ring or the agent stocks seals. Perhaps the best strategy is to buy a new pump and seals and rubbers and keep them in stock for your own consumption.

I also noticed that although my BBB pump has an aluminium barrel (or alloy as they call it), the footpiece is plastic and the pump feels quite unstable underfoot, flexing in the footpiece. My Zefal Husy didn't do that, but it was made from real iron, not pansy plastic and alu.

Ive had a BBB for about 4-5years now, about 6 months ago the head started popping off before the tyre would reach the desired pressure, replaced it with a rav x head and the pumps still working fine.

Agree 100% on keeping a "service kit". When I next pop into my LBS I'll ask them for one, else I'll ask my Dad (his working in USA now) to organize a kit.
