Ok, I hear they have closed down, everything will be put up for auction and every one is without work. "The Bulju" came to lock the doors yesterday. Any one have more info?

Got this sms just after 12 last night:

The WE Lifestyle centre have closed its doors by own choice despite rumours going round. We will take time out to restructure and will open at the same premises once we feel comfortable with the new concept of smaller, better, smarter.  Thank you all for the support over past decade.  PS Any ideas for future wiill be welcome

So ja, there we have it, Very strange seeing that they had a special going until Saturday.  I at least though they will stick it out until after thee weekend, which makes one believe that someone did close the.  Drove past there this morning, all the windows was covered by posters and paper and you couldn't see if anything is inside.  Looks like someone cleared it out last night.

It is really, really sad, even if you didn't like them.

Don't know about the "Balju" but the rest seems to be the correct story. a Sad day for all involved with the shopCry. Remember at the end of the day we are all "cycling  family".

Ja, it is sad, but they did Sponcer me and Lilo and all Harmony Members at one time with Cash Vouchers and they were always there when you needed something asap that other shops did not have in stock.

They also let me and the Club100 ladies train with them some times and get great cycling tips from them:-D

So..when is the Auction????

Never really understood the concept of having 2 great stores in a small area like that. There mush have been hell off a competition between the guys.

Weird that the closed down - and will "reopen" in the same shop but smaller. If its financial issues, one would guess they would close down completely and if they should open again they would open in a cheaper shopConfused

Times are tough now, not sure how long this was dragging on, but good luck to the guys looking for new work.

"Een se dood is die ander se brood" - In this case its sad but trueCry

Either way, non of our concerns, and nothing we can do about it. Sad to see a shop go though.

So, don't want to change the line of this thread, also don't know if we are allowed to do this, but which shops do you guys use in the Cape?  Are we allowed to "advertise"  should we start a new thread rather?

I guess everyone now knows that he is closing down. So we can stop this at this point. He did a hell of a lot for me, and a lot of my buddies.

I will never forget the 2006 Epic were we all ran out of brake blocks and no one could find anything close (George Area)

He send his bakkie overnight with brake blocks as well as new shoes for those guys who ran the soles off the shoes in that muddy 1 stage.

Also remember how he send his bakkie with a ""loan"" bike for someone when we had a social church group funds raising thingie outside Hermanus - at his cost

Willie, thanks for what you John and the stuff did for me. Even knowing that I do most of my shopping at Chris jnr and Snr.

I'm not a shop so will tell you - If one was using WE you will prob go to CWC now that WE closed down. Mean its in the same area about 300m away so that quite obvious.

CLab is expensive and too far away for normal stuff. Would have popped into CLab more often if there were a shop closer to Stellnbosch / Durbanville.

In Stellenbosch we have Flandria and Masons - both good shops for all normal stuff. nice to go to bigger shops and see more stuff one the floor, even if you just want to look.

Great shop closer to home home is Manic Cycles in Worcester (WW - Francois), will do most if not all my orders through him.

So I guess it all depends on where you are and where you live. I'm not going to drive all the way to Clab in CT from Stellenbosch to service my bike or to buy smallish parts, but will go to have a look at new bikes or wheels - and combinging the trip with something else to do.
