Christopher Brunsdon Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Oh, and the reason why I'm not going with outsurance is that Cyclesure will cover my goods for R47 randts (My bike is only R4500 and other goodies are about R5K). OS will charge at least R100 so not worth it for cheap rides like me!!!!
Kranswurm Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Non of the above Insured with Etana Combined value of bikes insured 125K Premium 1.1K pm
Delgado Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Call indwe Risk... they have a cycle section too.R100 less than your current selection above. 021 914 0732 ask for Shumi. Who are they never heard of them???Im afraid of small companies that I have never heard of beforeThey cover my wifes business. Not impressed with them as we tried to claim flood damage from them - they told us "No' date=' claim from landlord first and if unsuccessful then put a claim with them - should take a couple of weeks"[/quote'] You should have told them to effoff mate! If they carry the insured exposure they must entertain your claim and it is up to them to subrogate against the landlord. Cheapshot!!
Minion Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Don't know who writes Pedal Care insurance so cannot comment! Pedal Care are underwritten by Santam. You can't really just compare costs. You need to study the detailed policy wording of each offering. This will tell you, for example, that Cyclesure specifically excludes any frame damage as a result of manufacturing defects, fatigue failure etc., while Pedalcare only excludes them if they're already covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

Going to change my wifes business insurance soon as your comments are exactly how I feel. Will get myself a broker so he candle the k@k - now a good local one that I need to follow up on.
Bike Mob Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 had 2 claims - no questions asked. Paid out retail values.
WR 1.0 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Try Forbes, costs me R100 for R42k cover. Just had a claim now, took a while (3 weeks) but no problems. Agree with Hello Peter option. You'll immidiatly see who gets the compliments and who gets the complaints. Just bear in mind that there is always 2 (3 sides) to every story.Azkikr2009-07-07 04:08:44

Having an intermediary is vital mate!! Plus any *** advice given to you makes them liable and you have legislation on your side. I have been in the industry over 20 years and would rather be uninsured than take the risk of insuring with a direct insurer!
Christopher Brunsdon Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Agree Delgado about going direct. Guess you also only need one bad experience with an insurer to never want to do business with them.
Dirty Twin Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Mate of mine had his Oiz Carbon insured with Cyclesure and bl!ks&m&d off his bike on 20/07/2009 and cracked his top tube. Cyclesure have already authorised the replacement frame. Probably only notified on Tues/Wed so lets say 2-3 days to settle a R23,000 claim. Pretty impressive Well done CYCLESURE
Daxiet Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Funny this post has surfaced now. This morning I commenced my insurance hunting, phoned MiWay R147 and Outsurance R205. Catch was MiWay need me to have my household insurance with them. Their household cover was expenive hence Outsurance landed up being ~R100 cheaper. But MiWay had a R500 fixed excess, Outsurance fixed R250.00 Called OS back managed to get the rate at R174.73 with fixed excess @ R250.00. That is on a R23100.00 bike. Basically easier to go with the company you know, all my insurance is with Outsurance. Anyway the cover from Outsurance looks very comprehensive, hope I won't have to ever claim, but if that day comes we will see if they were worth it.
