That's breek guy! Here I was willing to give you a boost half way through the race :P Enjoy the drive man. Will miss you in the chute. Safe travels and see you soon.

I am feeling awesomely strong today but got blocked sinuses! WTF! I have lost a bit of weight too (2.5Kg - just to brag) :D will help with the climbs this Saturday coz we got a hell of a lot to climb.

Check you guys (that are riding) at the Durbanville Race..... just to check - does the race finish on that long climb towards Durbanville along Adderley road?

Last year the finishing line was at the D'urbanvale entrance - a 100 metres or so onwards in Adderley Str.

I'm in L group - wonder if I can sneak into J? Has it been done before ?

You can start as far back as you want but not ahead of your seeded group. So if you are in L you can't jump forwards to J - sorry man. PPA guys will spot you and (should they miss you) the Racetec sensors will pick you up as leaving earlier than your group should have.

SirK, I'll be the tortoise, you the hare.I'm only flying tomorrow afternoon (while the rugby is on  ) so I'll see you guys tomorrow morning.

To quote Gareth Cliff - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Good that you can ride, bad that you are flying during the rugby, and ugly because your boss organised your flight at that time.

See you tomorow buddy

THE TORTOISE FINISHED BEFORE THE HARE   :D .

Phew, glad I managed to finish before you guys caught me.

See you again next weekend for the DC training ride.

Are your seriously asking, SirK...

If you are, then it is systematically reducing your training load before the race event.

For example, 10 days before DC, do not exceed 100 km.

5 days before, do not exceed 50 km.

3 days before, chill, legs up...

Add udxcob at 2:52 and a lil' bit of seconds.

Add bikemonster, who helped his bud JP in Group K, who came in at 2:56ish.

SirK, your time is EXCELLENT considering your start and overall breakaway from group J. Podium spot!

Well done, everybody! :)

A safe race. A good test.

I am racing the Klein Joostenberg.

Then head to Germany on the following Monday.

Surely most of you are focusing on DC training next weekend.

Enjoy!

Hope to join MariusL and bikemonster on some morning rides this week... :P

Actually remembered about then this morning and was gonna add them to the list but you beat me to it.

Slept for 3.5 hrs yesterday afternoon and about 7 hrs last night - that is how tired I was. Oh ja, figured out why I started cramping - lack of water  Had only finished one 850ml bottle for the entire race. I think I must carry a watch that is set to beep every 15min to remind me to drink because otherwise I forget

Thanks man - you didn't do too bad either. Actually, we all didn't do too bad. Winning time was crazy though - 2:17:37 - those guys were motoring it!

Taper???

For the two Weeks before the Event You NEED to ride 200 Km Plus per day everyday in the Heat.

Only then and ONLY then are you ready.

Anybody want to join me for a Training ride?

Please?

I will ride slowly!

Please, please, please tell me you are joking/sarcastic because otherwise it must rank as the most silly advice ever dished out on the Hub.
