Hi Guys,

Iv been following this group for some time now and have never really had the the guts to post anything or share what iv been up to on my side.

I absolutely love steel framed bikes and find the history and nostalgia behind the sport extremely enticing.

I have ended up doing builds with newer groupsets, purely for functionality and the added gears. So to cut a long story short, here are some of my favorite builds. Feel free to comment or give any suggestions. Have a great weekend guys.

Casati - Camagnolo Centure -

Finished my EROICA SOUTH AFRICA ride yesterday.

Other than headset, complete Shimano 600, some EX, some Tricolour.

And pedals!!!

Now to test ride it. I know the brake levers are a bit high, but once I lose my middle (), I'll lower them.

What you doing for pedals?

Difficult decision!

I'll wait for guidelines from the organisors, but probably flat, with cages and running shoes, so I can walk up the steep hills!!

Wayde!!!!

I'm just worried that you won't be allowed to ride any of those beauties at Eroica Africa!

And I'd love to see at least one of them suitably attired when we ride in Montagu.

And meet you of course[emoji13]

Im dying to ride the Eroica. I may have something up my sleeve ;) .

Just need to find a suitable groupset. I have a campy 8 speed Avanti groupset on an Olmo I built up. But don't really want to strip her down. Also feel that a Colnago needs something special, perhaps a record groupset. So the search continues.

I can't make up my mind which one I like the most from those three!

Which is your favourite to ride Wayde and why?

What a collection dude!

Thanks bud. Been a lot of hard work, but certainly worth it. ^_^

Hard to say, each bike has its own special quality. Its like having to choose which of your kids is your favourite. Yes, the one always has a booger or two hanging from its nose and yes, the other may be a complete pain in the bum, but you love them equally.

My uncle dropped off a pair of vintage Diadora road shoes at my parents place this weekend - he was doing a clean-out and told my Mom to give them to me to give to one of our development athletes.

They actually still look bloody good - a few scuff marks but in general not bad. Size 43 if I remember correctly. I'm guessing probably mid to late 70's

He's fallen on some bad times, so if there is anyone who might be interested, I will take a few photos tonight - I wouldn't mind helping him out a bit if I can - he really could use a bit of extra cash over Christmas!

Ok my mistake, they are Le Coq Sportif not Diadora.  Size 42 or UK8

Here's the pics as promised.  If anyone is interested let me know.  Otherwise I'm going to take off the cleats and go bowling :-)

R100?

Posted

Make it R200 and I'll drive through and give them to you, with the DHC badge which I promised you and is still safe here with me at work

Deal

I will also give you an old Giro helmet and some Time retro shoes to sell on behalf of your uncle. Hopefully you can raise another R500 odd?
