From Steel-Vintage, a great resource!!!!!

This is a nice Diamant classic steel bicycle frame and fork. The frame and fork are made of very light profiled steel tubes by ORIA. The frame has really nice lugs and pantographs. We de-painted this frame and can optionally paint it in a color of your choice. The option of new painting would additionally cost 149 Euro.

A different model, but I think Diamant.

You lucky boy, you know whom to sell it to cheaply, if you want

Okay, so, the frame has finally been stripped and I found an ITA threaded BB hiding between the cranks. Had a good look at the frame in the sun and couldn't find any markings whatsoever, besides the Cinelli logos on the lugs.

The frame was fitted with a C-Record headset (drilled cups) and a 27mm C-Record seatpost (I think). So maaaaaaybe high end??

1. Does ITA BB mean ITA frame? and,

2. How common were DIY frame builds back in the day?

This is an interesting find, a Raleigh track frame in TI colours with Reynolds 753 tubing. The serial number is SB1065. I did some research and the SB in the serial number indicates that the frame was built at the Special Bicycle Developments Unit of Raleigh in Ilkeston. The Reynolds decal says "Reynolds Cycle tubing" and "Respray" Anyone have any knowledge on these frames?post-51655-0-23375600-1458585211_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-41956100-1458585228_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-04566600-1458585254_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-40436300-1458585284_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-85525500-1458585299_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-55943500-1458585325_thumb.jpg

I got this reply from Neil McGowran an American TI Raleigh SBDU collector:

Hi Eric – sounds like you have a lovely frame dating to approx the last 6 month period of 1976. There is no real accurate date timeline for SB frames but I believe 1976 started at about SB600’ish give or take 30 frames. So yours is probably later in that year. 753 was available to the public in 1976 so definitely could be correct for 753. SBDU brackets at this time would have had “Made in England” across the length. Most track BB shells were plain but some may have had 4 slots milled into it. Hope that helps, Would love to see some images. The tops of the seat stays and how they are finished can tell a lot about an SBDU frame and if the head lugs have cut out windows or not.

Cheers

Neil

Eppie, that is a very nice bike you have there. Well done!

Idea!!!!!!!!

Many of us have odd crank arms lying about or are missing either a left or right hand side arm. How about everyone going through their stockpiles of goodies and then posting some pictures of the crank arms you have for sale or want to buy the opposite arm?

This arrived yesterday.

I was fortunate to have won this lovely limited edition Brooks LÉroica saddle a few days ago after entering my Alpina and the wife's Zini in a competition by the Eroica South Africa organisers.

Ride it on the rivet!

Thank you to Rolfaps for agreeing to part with 26.8mm seat post for the Zini. The shims I made were not working and the saddle was moving after riding for a while. Thank you!

It's me. Glad you like the LeJeune Dillon.

Hi Eric, this not an ordinary Master, it is an Arabesque Master.........very rare! I think there were only 500 made in 83 - 84! Check your right rear back stay on the drop out and it will have a three digit serial number. Let me know what the number is.

95% of all Arabesque's were sold as frame sets only for Colnago's 30 Anniversary.

The 5% were sold as complete bikes with Colnago 30th pantographing on Campagnolo parts! These complete bikes command pricing of between R100,000 and R400,000 all depending on condition and if the bike is complete or not.
