Went to practice the Cascades National course last Wednesday. Man that course is sick.

Some pics of the uphill triple step up.

O capricorn my the top bit on the e13 has cracked

how did you manage to do that?

Think the guys at the bike shop over tightened it when they fitted the new chain

hmm, see if u can glue that crack closed to prevent the crack from progressing. ask E.thirteen if there is any glue they would recommend in a pinch. It's not a fix, just a means to buy more time. I doubt they will recommend something, but it's worth a try.

MXkid: nice pics. where the rest smiley2.gif, especially of the track which just precedes your triple. did u clear it? also, where is the third lip in those pics? or does the triple end on that flat looking part in yhour first pic? Must pic up quite a bit of speed to clear it?

DHK, try the glue suggested by capricorn and also drill a very small hole through the e13 where the crack stops if you can. The small hole will stop the crack from spreading further.

Capricorn, the track took about 2 hours to get from the bottom to the top, as i walked, pushed, practiced sections i liked and still did not make it to the top.

This section you enter on a flat section, drop in over a left turn, into a huge bowl and triple out.

Check out this guys facebook page, he has pics from the last Cascades regional event, which is the national course.

If the crack is long, enough then MXkid's xcellent suggestion with regard to the small hole is definitely needs to be applied. I dont mean to steal MXkid's thunder, but that small hole acts as a stress reliever. ?I dont mean to get into the whole physics of it all, but fracture mechanics contends that the greatest stress at a crack is actually located just slightly ahead of the direction of propogation and not at it's exact tip. Thus the hole to relieve that stress.

but ifu dont want to drill, i say just glue it up.

thanks for the extra pics smiley1.gif

as for spending 2 hours on a track and not even making it to the top: i'm glad we not the only ones suffering the same here at tokai smiley17.gif

I'm going to buy some alu and sit with a dremel and try and make a replacement part. If it works I won't have to buy a new plastic box thing and that anoying noise of the chain slapping against the plastic on the way down will be sorted!

By far the best looking slope style bike around20100410_161449_pbpic2913994.jpg

very easily accomplished with some vinyl on a white finish, then have the vinyl clearcoated as well.

btw: your signature should end with "True story". That is the truest form of the Barneyism smiley17.gif
