you all want plastic mass produced bikes. What about a Se7en, Independant or Pegoretti that is custom made for you. If you have to spend more then R30k on a frame, get a proper one.

Pinarello have exclusive use of TORAY? They wish! See the new Eddy Merckx uses the same 46HM3K Carbon from TORAY as the FP3 Pinarello!

GO' date=' as I understand it, they have exclusive use for bicycle frames, of specificaly the Toray M60J fiber. M60J is about 35% stiffer than M46J. It is slightly heavier, but not much, meaning a stiffer design for the same mass, or less mass for the same stiffness (if engineered properly) should be achievable.

Dude...I actually did not read your post properly! I understand now, and yes I do agree with you that Pinarello have exclusive use of the M60J. My bad!

Please dont think I am bashing Pinarello, as I am a devout fan, having owned several personally. And lets face it, there are few bikes in the same league when it comes to looks. (if any)

As for wheels/frames and stuff thats outsourced to Japan...is it that bad a thing? I've seen plenty Italian cars broken down on the side of the road, but few Japanese ones! So why should it diminish the appeal of the bikes? They clearly know what they are doing!

Now you are talking GO2.0. I'll even take this Schwinn over a Pinarello.

GO, Imo bikes made in the East are great.

2010 Cannondale production are also 100% "made in China". I suspect there will be a big improvement in quality, and much less warranty claims, especially for paint problems.

I just think Colnago backed themselves into a corner somewhat by hitting the "made in Italy" thing a bit hard when Bianchi & Pinarello moved East. They should have switched sooner!

If you are looking for a plastic bike, then made in Taiwan aor China is the way to go.

If you want Custom then Steel, Titanium or some Carbon frame are the way to go.

For me, a frame can't be exclusive if it pops out of a mould.

exclusive is custom. period

I know there is a big list that did not make it onto my choices but feel free to add yours.

The ones on my list is just the obvious choices one would see in most shops, the others that did not make it might not be my favorite <img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Wink" />

the list of others go on....Giant, Raleigh,BH,Look,Felt, Storck,Willier,Schwinn,Orbea ...etc

Maby this poll might show something or might be totally useless if everyone choose "other"<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Embarrassed" />

Colnago!!!!!

Pegoretti......nice to know that I have one of only three in SA. oh, and it rides like a bike is suppose to ride.

Giovani Motalini, groot kokadoor at CGC, also have/had one. A nice bottle green and cream coloured one.
