Thug Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I have to congratulate Avnic on their excellent customer service. The sound (key tones) on my Edge 705 stopped working last week Wednesday and as Avnic are not too far away, I popped in on Friday morning. As the unit was still under warranty they agreed to replace the unit and deliver it. The courier has just dropped off my new unit and they have replaced the whole bundle (cadence/speed sensor, hr strap, bike mounts) as well !! Thanks Avnic !!

Thug Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 Maps will come with the unit (if purchased locally). They work exactly the same as the units you would find in the car. No trails or routes are loaded.

As far as maps are concerned, depends on the bundle you bought. If it contained maps, they will replace with maps, if only base map, you get base map. The base map is the Garmin Africa Series (Southern Africa) that gives you full mapping. - You are able to use it to plot routes and guide you to various destinations BUT there is no "voice prompt". - You can also use it to trace routes that you've previously ridden.

Sometimes one must close your mouth and open your ears! After trying water, spit, Vaseline, body lotion and a host of other stuff on the electrodes without any success, I bought some ULTRASON scanning gel from Discem and viola! My problems are over. Applied some on the electrodes and I am back in business. Just comes to show, read the manual and listen to what the experts say.

However it does worry me that people continually need the service (can't it just sommer work, rather?).
