I had to make a plan one saturday night and used a synthetic Motul two stroke oil, It worked but I expected the seals to get snacked. It's a year later now and it works better than ever. (I since bled the other brake with 2 stroke as well) Wacko

Now,now . We all know that mineral oil can also be used to remove makeup unlike brake-fluid that just good for brakes and removing paint from your neightbours car .

you sue nearly any low viscosity mineral oil for your brake system.

Just beware of passenger car products that uses a high degree of seal swell additives that can lead to brake failure.

A simple circulating hydraulic oil is usually best and offer the least problems

Haha, when I did my apprenticeship in motor mechanics, my journeyman told me a story of a collegue who put brake fluid on any spanner rash he got thru the day, it worked beautifully as an antiseptic and when he died from brake fluid poisoning he had no scars!

Just do a search for thsi on The Hub...this topic has beed well discussed - especially good advice from GoLefty!!

I did - and got some mineral oil from my LBS...worked wonder.

DO NOT USE BRAKEFLUID!!!  There are basically two types of hydraulic oil....the DOT range and the mineral oil range....make sure what your hydraulic system requires.

Shimano i know uses mineral oil NOT brakefluid...
