Is it a hunt for 'status'? Do you 'look up' to people with 3 or 4 stars attached to their nicknames and post counts? It means nothing! It does not indicate anything, not how reliable a person is as a seller/buyer, nor any indication of the said persons character, nor the value of the posts made on the website. It is merely a mechanism added to BB software so people will chase posts(because people chase things simply because they are there, just like a puppy chases its own tail), and hence cause more posts(drivel?) to be read... All of this will lead to more page impressions and 'unique visitors' which will lead to more advertisements being shown, and thus more money to be made by the owners of the website!!!
