Not sure if this is exactly the correct forum, but was wondering if anyone else had run across this problem and found a solution yet.

I have a Polar s720i which I download to my laptop with Windows XP (have to do it to that one as it is not compatible with my Vista laptop) via a USB infrared device (Polar).  About 3 months ago, it suddenly stopped allowing me to download - I've gotten different error messages, and sometimes it will even start the download, but never completes it.  I've been on various Polar forums, and seems a lot of people have experienced this problem, but haven't found a solution yet.

Anyone else out there found one?

Why dont you contact Polar SA.  (011) 805-1028.  Maybe they can give you telephonic support.

Another thing I just thought of, try to reset your Polar.  Maybe that will help.

Have you tried replacing the battery in the Polar?

On a side-issue, why can you not use the Vist-arse laptop?  Now that I have gotten around to getting a USB/IR goodie-gad, I have no probs with getting my Polar (625X) to talk to Vist-arse.

I used mine with a serial adapter. I had the problem that it would only download if I used a USB port with a certain IRQ. Then it would stop working again and I had to un-install and re-intall drivers for the serial adapter, look for the USB post with the specific IRQ # (normally 7 or 9) and it would work for a few months again.

Hi James,

Thanks for the suggestions.  Cannot use my USB/IR goodie-gad with Vista as there are no drivers available for it.  Thus, it is not recognised when I put it in.

Changed the lighting (new low energy saving globes) in the room recently?

This seem to affect mine, so I have to turn the watch upside down, or hold it in a shadowy area (under table or something)

The loved one has a problem in that it sometimes does not download some of her data

I had the same problem with the 94.7

Problems

1. I did not clear the memory before the ride

2. The ride took 6H22 instead of 3 or so

So I only got 4 hours of data (excluding the sprint section between the 3rd and 2nd last waterpoints)

The problem I have is that all the data is on the polar itself, but when you down load the data, some of the data does not get loaded on to the program.

And I have mailed Polar  on their website about Eight months ago and still haven't received an answer yet. It seems their aftersales service delivery is as bad as it is in SA

There are drivers. I'm running Windows 7 and it works, just had to install the driver. According to the Polar support site the process for Vista is the same.

Open your Polar software, under HELP there is an option called PRODUCT SUPPORT, click on that. It will go onto the net, then just do a search.

I found an instruction manual complete with screen shots - very easy to use.

If you don't come right PM me & I'll help you over the phone.

How's the batteries?

When I've had downloading problems it's usually been an early warning that it's time for a new battery.

I have tried the battery theory it is not that. I think there is some or other interference because when we go riding in certain areas the polar stops and starts itself, and it is not only myne, my friend that cycles with me, hers also stops and startsat te same locations and I thaught it is sopposed to be coded.
