Hi guys & girls

I suffered from post-race headaches for years and thought that changing from Energade to Replenish Overdrive had solved my problems.

This weekend after only a 55km (2h 32min) training ride, I developed the most vicious headache in the afternoon.  I drank about 1.5 litres of Replenish during the ride which surely is enough?  I also had a decent breakfast beforehand but didn't eat along the way (I seldom do in training).  I also kept drinking water afterwards and had some lunch.

I am at a loss as to what is causing these headaches... Ouch

Any advice would be appreciated.

It could simply be heat, as opposed to dehydration -- especially since it's getting hotter.

Wear fewer clothes (no undervest)

Pour water over your neck.  Try just below the helmet line: it's more cooling in your neck than over your head, and it won't run into your sunglasses.  Use water, not an energy drink.

You can try and weakening the mixture.  More water, less sugar.

You should check your caffeine intake.  This is complicated, because it depends on how much coffee you drink monday-friday, and some energy drinks have caffeine.

Hi, its not very common, but some people suffer from excersize induced headaches.

If I dont push too hard, then I have a mild headache most times I excersize at present.

If I push hard (100%effort for as long as I can hold it)  then I am rewarded with a migraine that affects my vision and my head feels bruised for days afterwards.

There is lots of information on the net, but no cure that I can see. Its not very well understood as exercise cures migraines in most people.

I dont think that hydration or nutrition will change the headache, but I do think its fitness and blood pressure related.

My headaches reduce as I get fitter and I then as a result I then seldom stress myself hard enough to get a migraine.

My blood pressure is high (140/70) at present and I think most of my problems may stem from this.

I managed a 2:49 for the Burger with a only a mild headache after the first big climb.

I suggest you test your blood pressure as a first step.

Mine is usually low' date=' and I suffer these things. (110/something)  However, mine's heat related -- not exercise related.  The problem is that exercise causes the body to overheat.

My sister gets serious migraines due to too low blood pressure (not cycling related.)

I suggest you test your blood pressure as a first step.

Not a bad idea.  If possible both before and after a ride.
