I have a used 2007 Fox RL 100 (currently fitted) and a brand new Reba Race (2009) 100/120 Fork.

Weight wise these forks seem to way about the same.

Thinking of fitting the Reba and setting it to 120 mm (removing the spacer)

Anybody else running an Anthem X frame with a 120 mm fork?

Please comment if the 120mm effects the bike negatively in any way.

The fork has a pop-loc lever, so it should be fine for climbing. Doing the Epic next year and think that a extra 20mm of travel could help with the technical sections.

it will change the geometry of the bike. It's gonna bring the front up by 20mm so you will have to tilt your seat down a few degrees and maybe drop your stem if you want a racy position.

Cool, will most probably fit the Reba.

Had a Reba SL (2006) before and and performance wise it was on par with the Fox, Apparantly they did a major upgrade in 2008, so the 2009 Reba will probably be better than the 2007 Fox. Still need to decide on 100mm / 120mm.

Going 120 will slacken the Head & Seat tube Angle and raise the BB.

Slacker HA:

* will make the Anthem sloppy through fast, technical sgl track.

* will give slightly more controlled feel on steep descends

* will move weight distribution to the back

* will raise your shoulder and therefore effective height

Raised BB:

* better rock / ground clearance

* will give the feeling of sitting on top rather than "in" the bike

* will make the bike less agile

* will increase and negatively influence center of gravity

Relaxed Seat Angle

* will move weight distribution to the back

* will have a net effect of you sitting further behind the BB which will influence set-up and suspension performance

* steering and front wheel will feel lighter and less planted

Stick 100mm. The Anthem X is one mighty fine bike and chances are you won't need extra 20mm travel. Epic doesn't need 20mm extra travel. For the % of technical stuff its not worth it.

If it's a relaxed feel you're after fit a higher rise handlebar, flip the stem or fit a new stem with higher rise. This will help without sacrificing the geo.

Hi Crow, thanks for the sound advice. Will stick the 100mm, no stripping of the fork to remove the spacer.

I already have a low rise bars (monkey light) on both my bikes.

I've had the following bikes, Trance (2005), NRS (training bike); Opus Phast Hardtail (training bike), Anthem 1 (2008);Anthem X(2009).

Still have the Anthem 1 (training bike) and Anthem X (racing bike). So the Fox will go to the Anthem 1 (just sold the old Reba SL fork) and The Reba Race to the Anthem X. The NRS frame broke luckily my insured paid out for a Anthem X frame.
