So do I understand correctly that Lefty would prefer to chase cyclists off the road with his fascist rules and rather that we race around in taxis and unlicenced vehicles?

Hey whichever form of law breaking turns you on bru..

Mostly I'd prefer it if the community called cyclists showed a little more respect for the law than we currently do. But clearly many are resistant to wanting to be better people therefore any constructive debate is impossible. Sort of like arguing with a child.

PS: see how the arguement now cleverly morfs from Adolf to facism. Clever but very transparent.

I agree that everybody should do their part to adhere to the laws.  I just don't agree that cyclists should in any way be a priority for law enforcement in South Africa.  I have had several incidents with taxi's and bad drivers in general, but a bicycle has never caused me any damage (the last time a taxi knocked me it cost quite a packet).

I think the debate should focus on how cycling can be promoted as an alternative form of *safe* transport (cycling lanes, etc.) and not how to legislate bicycles off the roads.

b.t.w. Hitler and facism is pretty much the same thing - the former is on of the main protagonists of the ideology embodied in the latter.

thanks for the education, I haven't learned to read or write yet,

back on topic.

Cyclists are not the priority of the law. Promoting and enforcing the road traffic act is.

Like offending motorists cyclists too play a detrimental role when breaking the law, mostly to themselves. There is a cost to the economy, image and confidence of motorists and cyclists alike. A motorist hitting a cyclist suffers emotional trauma while the cyclist could loose their life.

So whats the point of diffusing the role we play in our own demise? Maybe some of us would prefer that we prosper.

Unless we start to self regulate effectively (like going to the toilet it should be a natural event), we will never earn the respect and co-operation of motorists. Yet we demand respect, just like children.

So if we behave like children then surely we must be treated like children and told what to do and when, and how.

or we can chose to be more mature about our use of the road. Clearly this is totally uncool..

we spend more time admiring the bike, wheels legs butts of the rider around us that we forget we are road users too, subject to the same laws as everyone else, yet somehow drawing attention to that point draws childish commentary.

If you cannot see that licensing is about competency then you have missed the point entirely.

I'm off to pour vinegar on the chips on my shoulder, will be back shortly

(oh that was sarcasm..)

You mean like starting a constructive debate by generally referring to "the other side" in derogatory terms like homosexuals, thugs etc. REALLY constructive!!!! GoLefty if you are not spewing venom at Andrew McClean then it is at the PPA or when you run out of imaginary reasons you revert to taking on "roadies", and when that fails you revert to the pulling the joker card - "them racist Saffa's".

Seriously bud, it's time you got over yourself. That chip on your shoulder really could do with a polish.

get it right, it's chips on both shoulders.

Venom only goes where it deserves, and that is a truth you need to accept.

of course it pretty hard to accept truths when you are part of a lie.

So Andrew mcLean managed to convince you he is not a price fixer... when thats your perspective, not mine,

So PPA has convinced you that it is a competent organisation..... well thats your truth not mine

Thats racist saffa's exist on this forum, thats a fact, truth and well known to many who frequent this forum. if you chose not to see it then I wonder what the difficulty is in removing the blinkers...only you can answer that.

some people take a little longer to see the truth, others never do simply because they're afraid of change.

so which are you?

golefty!! for a mtbker and Capie you are hopelessly too stressed.  Take a chill pill.  When you bait roadies, it is not you who is supposed to get wound up.  You are doing it wrong.  Go to bed, think about it and come back tommorrow to try again.

Really dude.

GoLefty!!, the personal attack was started by you in your initial post. Now you want to meet and declare war face to face? You started it. As I said in my first post on this thread - great ideas and points of view that got marred by interspersed slanderous comments.

shot muddy... Reckon they will let me drive one of the new police branded BMW's? (By the way, why are the cops now sponsored by a sun-glass manufacturer?)
