Quote Stifmeister - "I had a bmc carbon team 2005 with boras and I had a crash in a car last week and wan to know what u guys think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!smiley11.gif"

I think its pretty silly to be riding in the carsmileys/smiley2.gif

Competitive cyclist has a bike fit procedure you can use on line, quite complicated but I think it is a fairly accurate if you take the time to measure yourself as they explain.

Okay I have now finished choking on my cornflakes.

a number of points:

Your dad has more bucks than brains.  He is wasting his money on buying you fancy equipment.  Truths, a Orbea orca, then a BMC, what next, buy you a porshe?

Hopefully you appreciate the money he is wasting. Is he at least also sending you to the best schools, and going to send you to study LLB, LLM, LLD when you grow up?  If not start selling your bikes to buy an education.

SERIOUSSSLY,

The best bike is one that suits your style and ambition.  If you are a LA wannabe, then buy a trek madona.  Simple.

If you are a bike collector you must have a Eddy Merckx MX leader somewhere in your collection.  It is the best bike ever built.  Pegoretti makes good steel bikes these days.

Best carbon bike is the Colnago C range (C40, C50) ext.

Eddy Merckx carbon range is good, Cervelo is good, Pinerello Dogma and F4:13 are awesome.

Tommisinni has a cult following and are good.  Ridley has had some success on the pro curcuit.

the French LOOK and TIME are also most desireable.

Italian Cinneli, Bianchi have their merits.

Finally, for those that can, try the MERLIN titanium frames.  (Daddy can pay the extra)smileys/smiley36.gif

British magazine Cycling Plus voted the Merlin Extralight as the race bike of the year, with the runner up place going to the Cannondale Six13 and the final podium place going to the Giant TCR Advanced. Here is what the magazine said about the winning Merlin Extralight: 'Which brings us to our winner. When we got down to the shortlist for this award we had to decide whether we were picking the best, most technically advanced race bike, or the most technically advanced race bike for our readers. This is Cycling Plus so we went for the latter. Some surprise then that the bike in question cost 4,649 (british pounds). Mr. Vincent's Bank Manager better watch out! Mind you, when we tested it back in the Cycling Plus issue 168, it was sporting a full-record groupset and we would happily 'settle' for Campag chorus and a third off the bill. It's abike with character, pedigree, forgiving handling and a turn of speed. It's a Merlin Extralight.'

LAst thought of the day:

You are still growing,

so no matter what bike you buy now it will be too small for you in six months.  Best advice I can give is buy a cheap frame with expensive fittings, like the raleigh ext.  then in six months to a year when you are 18, pull the dosh out and buy a frame which you can ride through varsity and your first job.  By this time you should have stopped growing, and can use the frame for longer without those awfull spacers.
