so would it be possible to then use the x7/9/0 10spd cassette with the xx groupset ?   That would really make it usable as you can fit a cheaper cassette to your training wheels and use the xx for racing .

XTR, XO, X9,X7 will have option of 2x10 or 3x10

XT, SLX should go 2x10 and 3x10 option as well.

XX will stay dedicated 2x10

Shimano stock should hit our shores end Jul/Aug, SRAM end May/Jun

New 10spd X7 is not THAT much heavier than current XO so 2011 gear should be PLENTY light.

All SRAM groupsets will have "family" look and full set of components. Meaning cranks, hubs and brakes.

SRAM is already bigger aftermarket in SA than Shimano, and the last I heard they are passing them in some key European markets...

I think this extra speed thing is a mistake. What's wrong with 9spd? You are changing gears so often on a MTB. Whether it's a 23 or a 24 tooth' date=' are you really going to notice.

This is just an attempt by the manufacturers to force us to "upgrade" to cassettes that cost more and wear quicker. I will resist. In fact, I have already moved one of my bikes to 8spd, where a new cassette costs R200. [/quote']

I couldn't agree more... Actually... what's wrong with 8 Speed? I raced 8 speed in 2006 still... a different ratios but so what, you adapt... And a 8 speed chain last longer...

Im Holding out for a X0 or X7  2blade crankset and a 100-120 reba air uturn Qr 15.

I wonder If hope will make 15mm spacers for their hubs.. Im sure they will.

You get 15mm adapters already. What ratio double though? For AM or XC?

28-40, Think our SA races needs a 40 for flat road sections, then Im just getting a normal 9spee 11-34 on the rear. should be enough. I hardly use small blade and Im currently running a11-32. Besides, It will only force you to go faster

Im trying to get blades for my current XT's but cant find a 28 nowhere...

Sea Otter Classic starts tomorrow; expect some news from SRAM and the other one.

"2x10 crankset: The 7075 alloy OCT hollow forged crankarms use the same 64mm/104mm bolt pattern design and timed, 1:1.5 small to large chainring ratio to recreate the fast shifting of the XX group?s X-Glide design. The XR GXP bottom bracket has a new ?Gutter Seal? design, which is claimed to reduce seal drag and increase resistance to bearing contamination. Like XX, the S1400 chainrings come in 42/28-tooth or 39/26-tooth combinations. The arms are available in 170mm and 175mm lengths. The 175mm crankset weighs a claimed 871g with the XR GXP bottom bracket."

I just wish Shimano will get away from these super designed big rings. You can not fit anything else without it looking out of place.

Im with you 100% and it costs a arm and a leg to replace.

ups to SRAM for that. I meen one could probably pop a BBB blade on that new XO and It wouldnt look out of place.

Actually ONLY Sram rings will work on there as they have made their own BCD being 102mm so at the moment no other rings will fit...
