SS Timing is timing the event. Chips have to be rented @ R50, of which R30 will be refunded at the finish. Owners of SSTiming chips must register their chip number in their name with SSTiming at the start / finish line "" Wat se stront is dit nou?

It costs R20 per race to rent a chip - why not just buy one?

It's cheap, its easy and SS do some fine work.

SS = Spectrum Sport, also known as SS Timing. www.spectrumsport.co.za

Not connected I think.

SS do a lot of events, but they don't use the chip all the times. For example babbas mtb event is timed by ss timing, but there is no chips.

SS timing chips are used at the BSG Energade triathlon as well. That's where I got mine end of 2008

Not so, it is all the same. They use different methods of recording times for the MTB (board) events than the triathlon / duathlon events (chip around the ankle).

I've left my own chip at home for last years last duathlon, and rented one with BSG Energade emblazoned all over the strap

Go have a look at the results link on www.spectrumsport.co.za and you will find all the events mentioned above.

In road racing SS only times the Kormorant.  NO WAYS I will be buying one.

I got my Championchip for free and with Racetec I actually use the damn chip more than once a year so buying it makes sense.

Scam of the century.

I WONT be "renting" or "buying" anything from SS.  They can stick their timing and "official race time" and whatever goes with that in a place so deep only the devil knows where it is.

SS timing does more of the Triathlon and Duathlon events, if you only going to use it once a year then i wouldn't suggest buying it. If you going to do a few races buy one, they are one of the best timers i've come across. Results are up same day usually by 4pm!!

I got one for my triathlons and for me it was a great buy!
