I better edit this..

Ironically in some strange manner I agree with you - the way people drive/cycle/walk needs HUGE corrective action....BUT....making blanket statement like cyclists need to be mowed down is easy - picturing yourself (or anyone else) being mowed down is less easy.

It's *** - I've had it done and seeing your own bones in flenters pushing through your flesh and skin once is enough to stop you making statements like that ever again.

Stop. Think. Remove foot. Talk again - your post completely losts it's potential impact when you got to the mowing down part....

Yes i am but the truth stings doesnt it.

Didnt see too many people wearing arm bands so it goes to show that few people are out therre trying to make a difference and when we say cycling is a great sport, they say hwat about the chops cycling without helmets, talking on their cells and riding abreast. If you not in any of the above categories then you have nothing to worry about. If you are then please take up another sport like bowls. that way you can show off your shiny balls to everyone.

Dude you such a mofo...not wearing a helmet, riding three abreast, talking on your mobile etc. are all choices and we have to live with our choices. Getting creamed by a car is not your choice, and sadly more often than not there is no life left to live with those choices.

Only people that are going to change the way we act are ourselves. No matter what we wear ( I had my armband on) We need to adjust our way of acting towards each other.

Nobody  What has a numberplate on the back of a car got to do with safety anyway....

The route cause on our roads are not the cyclist running late for the race and drive "to fast" ( in your opinion)

it is the general lack of policing....what do you want us to do, come and say we do not care for the rules? Like taxis drivers do?

You are also assuming that it is the same people who drive like an idiot that is fighting for safety....ever stopped to think that maybe there are some who fight for safety, sign petitions etc(Big H etc) and some who don't care about that?

So you are saying that because someone drove like and idiot it is the same person who is provacating safety?

You are short sighted.....

I don't think that people who rode the argus for instance are a representative sample. Most of them only ride once a year. Even after the race I saw them riding through Greenpoint all over the road, some of them on their phones, etc.

So breaking the law is an acceptable choice. Thats the mindset I am talking about.

Once again, its okay for a cyclist driving to break the law but not okay for the everyday driver. So in your mind if you own a bike, you are above the traffic laws? Lets all go get pissed and knock down pedestrians, its okay, i own a bicycle officer.

So when a car swerves for me i need to point out that i am one of the few law abiding cyclists.

and where did I say acceptable? perhaps you should rather keep quiet, twisting what other people say is not going to make you sound clever.

First line will answer your question. Breaking the law is not a choice and is not acceptable. How many deaths this year alone have been because of a choice to drive drunk? If you are about to do wrong then its not a choice its a decision.

Ok.... I need to apologise. After my race on Sunday I was talking on the phone while cycling back. I promise it won't happen again.
