@Mampara' date=' do u run them Front and Rear, where are they best suited?

If Mamapara and Geoff Kabush endorses them then I am willing to take that risk;-)

Front and back. I've used it on the muddy/sh!tty spruit and is was great and the weekend at a relatively dry Groenkloof and they were amazing. Sheds mud way faster then Larsen TT. I will see how long they last when I use the comming winter to commute on tar.

Yeah Mamparra I voted. Did a 3 hour xc race at rietvlei sunday, mostly dry with a but of muck in the forest/vlei.  22 psi front and 24psi rear.

Amazing grip ! Hit some of the corners way too fast, almost ended in the trees hehe.

Price is great and they are light.  Sidewalls are flimsy, see some chafing on the tyre from some rocks on saturday, but im light enough to get away with it ;)

Seem to wear fast though, but its exception dual compound so quite soft and made for racing, not a good tyre if you going to ride on the road allot with the mtb.

Rocket Rons
are great I am running the non ust version tubeless and no issues.
Fast light grippy!!
But expensive!

I am currently running Rocket Ron non UST with tubes at 3 bar and find it to be iffy. I started this poll as I need to get something that will work. I rode a friends bike at Northern farms with Kenda Small Block Eights and found that I immediately had more confidence regarding the feedback given with feel and grip.

The sidewalls of the Rocket Ron is extremely thin. Will they last tubeless? Maybe I can try it for the interim?

Being a Conti man myself I'm not sure if I'm happy with 44% of the votes going to Conti (race king and king/mtn conmbos).

On the one hand I can't be wrong - on the other hand my "secret edge" has been removed ;-)

Gooooo Conti!

In other news - the Michelin Wild Race'R 29" tyre is hitting our shores soon - I have a pair on order and will certainly post my feelings here when I've threashed them about a bit.

Michelin !!! Eldron how can you backstab your conti's !

I keep them in different rooms so they never see each other.

Plus I'm getting some American Classic 29er wheels that weight less than Julius Malemas sense of morality. I need some tyres to put on them and our sponsor is getting Michelins so Michelin it is (listen to Eldron say "yes boss!" LOL

Side walls are thin but I have had Zero issues (watch them rip to pieces this weekendLOL) I ride at teak which is pretty rocky and no issues!

Tyres are very personal things I know people who rode on small block 8's and could not ride in a straight line on a flat road without falling off thier bikes. They changed the tryes and presto they were fine again! Confidence is in your head but can be affected by whats on your bike!

I have rideen Spesh fast track and control and was very happy with them.

Thank You very much for everyone who participated in this poll.ClapClapClapClap

Mountain Bikers take note. According to the poll you cannot go wrong with either of the following combinations:

Maxxis Crossmark Front & Rear

Continental Mountain King Front & Race King Rear

If you want something different, have a look at the comments and you WILL be able to select something that might work for you.

@Mampara where are the Aspens the cheapest?

Solomans for R320.

I've taken Mampara's advice, and bought a pair of Aspens to try (from Solomons at woodmead) - they'll do a much better price than R320 (talk to Aghtar) - significantly less than R300 each!

looking to buy a new set of rubbers and my gawd seems its all down to personal opinion. Problem being I just started MTB'ing and I really dont want to go through trial and error.

I see Maxxis has the most poplarity, and the Conti's second. though reading through the reviews on bikeradar both of these tires score low? Am i missing something?

Btw in the WC, and looking for something that is semi decent on tarmac and does really well on trails especially under braking and cornering.

So where does this leave us for the Honda this weekend, especially following the rain this week?

Will the monorail, crossmark combo suffice? not running them yet but do have a set as backup.....

or will we need to start a complete new thread? Smile

BTW @Underachiever how good is Monorail vs Crossmark at the back?

Sorry for the late reply, wasn't avaliable for a loooong time.

Never tried the Crossmark, my Epic buddy did and found it to work well.
