I'm not sure I should rant about our local franchipreneurs, but I am endlessley grateful to chainreaction cycles when it comes to finding the various bits and pieces that it takes to keep a bike up and running.

I have a set of R1's (brakes) Big%20smileBig%20smile on my Lapierre Big%20smileBig%20smileBig%20smile and - as luck would have it - shook loose one of the mounting screws for the brake lever on Sani2c this year OuchOuch. The race was completed with some bloudraad broken off the fence along the side of the road (to the surprise of the onlookers I should add), but having completed that task and returned to Joburg I've turned to trying to find the correct screw to repair the damage.

Here's where the fun starts. The LBS 'thinks' there is an agent down in Cape Town, but no one seems to know who or how to contact them (tried 2 major JHB bike shops who both told the same story, and I've been unable to come up with a number on my own). I waited patiently for some positive news for a week at first, but it seems I gave up at the right time because I'm still waiting. Anyway, never fear - chainreaction to the rescue. The spares are on the plane - with a set of new brake pads because it seems no one stocks those either - and I guess I'll have them by Wednesday.

Long and short of the story though is who is sitting on this franchise/agency (and why are they sitting). Is the South African market really too small to support distribution for these guys? (in which case, isn't the 'net great, otherwise we'd all be using Shimano). Or do they just need some encouragement to promote their product. Anyone know who does Formula products, please give them my encouragement..

Ever thought of trying somebody that specialises in nuts, screws and bolts. I got stainless allen cap screws for all our bikes form them verrry cheaply. Unless this is a verrry sepcially manufactured screw thingy you should find it there.

Hi Michael

Di your parts come in from CRC? Again, sorry that you had to resort to this... funny thing is our pricing would most likely have been cheaper ;)

We are doing our best to combat this as I mentioned in my email.... Keep your eves peeled this week because there are going to be some interesting developments on this ;)

I just e-mailed this to a hubber who asked about them...

My last experience with them was not a very pleasent one.  We ordered 10 days before the argus. R13000 order, after 2 weeks of "processing" status on the tracking system on CRC webpage we got a bit suspect. We sent e-mails to every person and e-mail addy we could find and no reply, In fact the first e-mails have still not been replied to. I phoned thm and finally got through with this number00442893345504 you'll go straight through to a lady, give her your order no and get o the bottom of it. Our order had 4 things not in stock that had not been marked out of stock at the time of the order, so what happened is that we paid for goods they didnt have because they were slack in flagging the out of stock stuff. So Here we are a month later and our stuff was shipped only yesterday. I have called them 5 times and the 4th was not a very pleasant one, I basically told them that Im pressing charges of fraud as they have credited my card but I have no evidence of any goods moving  etc etc. they then put someone onto me quick who called me 10 o clock last thursday. The guy e-mailed us the problems but then again never replied to my mail , I had to phone again to ask what now the problem wa. So yes, Im a very pissed off IndividualLOL

If I didnt save so much by going to them I'd told them to eff off. But In doing so I would just spyte myself.

Ive ordeed ome stuff with someone else which went through without hickups and that took 6days to get here.

So these out of stock items are like landmines, you cat see them but If you step on one your order will simply be put aside untill the Item comes back in stock and It seems that backlogue is Looong as the guy who in the end made that call to me at 10pm had to go out of his way to meet my needs, If I never called I have no doubt we would have still not heard anything from them.

So good luck.
